Part 19

Maya

Maya wasn't wearing Benny's hat today and she just had on a hoodie and ripped jeans. She was up all night after Benny came to her window and she still wasn't decided if she should keep talking to Benny again. She wasn't even sure if it was her decision or not.

It was already the end of second block and she hadn't seen him and it was time for her to go to lunch.

"You look different today?" Wyatt said looking at Maya.

"No, same old me." Maya said swinging her blonde hair over to one side. She was a bad liar and wasn't very sneaky.

Wyatt moved her ponytail off her shoulder and saw a red mark on her neck.

"Oh my god. Who did that?" Wyatt said pushing Maya's shoulder playfully. Maya rolled her eyes and put her hair back over her shoulder.

"Uh no one. You wouldn't know him." Maya said and bit the inside of her cheek nervously.

"Maya, I thought we were friends. How come you're not telling me." Wyatt said concerned.

"Because, come on I'm hungry let's go to lunch." She said pulling him into the cafeteria. Wyatt sighed and followed her.

They grabbed some lunch and grabbed their usual seats in the back of the room by the garbage cans with the Freshman.

"I can't believe you're not innocent anymore." Wyatt said taking a bit of his tuna sandwich.

"Yes, I am. Nothing more happened." Maya said twirling her fork around her spaghetti not really hungry.

"You trying to avoid me today? It's hard to spot you without my LA hat on." Benny said walking over to the two of them who were sitting and eating peacefully.

"Wait, that hat is his?" Wyatt said shocked.

"Yea! Come eat lunch with me Maya, eat with all of us." Benny invited. Maya looked at his table and all the guys were having fun throwing grapes at each other and laughing.

"No, I'm okay. Really." Maya said looking at her spaghetti.

Benny tilted his head back and groaned.

"Come on, this is my only free period. Last night you said you were going to see me today." Benny blushed.

"W-wait. Last night?! BENNY WAS THE ONE YOU HOOKED UP WITH LAST NIGHT?!" Wyatt yelled in shock. Maya froze and shushed him but it was too late.

The whole cafeteria was staring at them now.

"We didn't do anything!" Maya whisper yelled at him and wanted to storm out of the cafeteria but she was frozen in her chair.

Benny was still standing staring at Maya with a frown.

He knew he had to help her so he took her hand and led her as quickly as possible out of the lunch room and Wyatt and the Sandlot boys followed.

"Maya you've got to start explaining. How do you even know Benny Rodriguez." Wyatt said once they were out of the room.

"Why did you tell Wyatt we hooked up?" Benny said shaking his head.

"Benny you haven't been telling us about Maya? What's going on!" Squints rubbed his glasses to glare at Benny.

"There is nothing to tell. I want this to stop. I used to know these guys from when we were kids. It was nothing Wyatt. Benny this has to stop. The drama and the rumors are not what I'm signing up for. I was fine on my own. People could care less about who I talked to." Maya said angry about the sudden popularity just because she is associated with Benny.

"Guys can you give us a second?" Benny asked the boys and they nodded and left the area.

"I won't let you walk away just like that Maya. If you don't like everyone staring that's fine. We don't have to tell people. I hope you understand that." Benny said hinting about Wyatt.

"I didn't tell Wyatt anything! And I'm talking about your friends and the nosy kids! I don't like being judged." Maya said and showed him the hickey on her neck and Benny felt guilty. He was to blame now.

"No one has to know about what we do." Benny said and grabbed her waist.

"I know you don't wear makeup but I can buy you some at least for your neck. I have an idea." Benny said smirking at Maya.

"Okay?" Maya said, urging him to continue.

"You don't like my life anymore. It's too different for you and I get that. Also, if we did get together like late night conversation and stuff, I couldn't handle having to sneak you around when you'd be my girl. It wouldn't be right, but if we made it like just casual hookups with no emotion I get to have you still. It's not exactly what I want but I will take it." Benny said.

"Uh, wouldn't that be using me?" Maya said uncomfortably.

"Not if it's what you want. Do you want me?" Benny asked and waited nervously for a response.

"Benny it's more than that." Maya sighed.

"Benny don't make me say it- It's obvious I'm a-" Maya said embarrassed.

"But what about that kid you are friends with?" Benny interrupted.

"No, he is just a friend. I don't know if I could go through with your plan Benny." Maya said.

Benny just stood there awkwardly really wanting Maya to agree. The plan seemed perfect to him in his young teenage boy mind.

She looked up at him with her big eyes and  he couldn't help himself but lean in and grab her face with his hands and kiss her.

"Okay." Maya breathed in between the kiss. Benny kissed her again more passionately.

"Okay what?" Benny said and slid his hands down to her waist and pulled her closer.

"I- I will be your secret" She said and Benny kept kissing her lips. He had flash backs of watching her hit home runs from the sandlot and when all of them were friends. He remembered waking up in the tree house and seeing the sun shine on her face when she looked out the window in the morning after spending the night with them. He remembered when he saw her and her dog and when he first started developing feelings for her.

"Tonight?" Benny said snaking his arms tightly around her waist.

"Okay, come to my house and be quiet." Maya said kissing his cheek.

"Yup, and no talking or emotions. Just you know." Benny said. He knew it would be the hardest for him because of how he did feel about her but if he went another day without having her at all he might have broke.

Maya on the other hand wasn't even sure if being with Benny was going to change anything. She still doesn't like how things turned out. How Benny turned out; but she was anxious to get 'it' over with. Even though she did not imagine losing her virginity like this. Especially by someone she trusted. She thought it just wasn't fair he gave Abigail her first time the right way. Maya wasn't good enough to get it like that. She just isn't the right person for Benny.

But this is what Benny thinks she wants. When Maya doesn't even know what to think.

Okay it will get more mature from now on if you weren't aware already

and yep I think I might go back and re-write this chapter at some point because BENNY still loves maya and I gotta make that clear. And like omg (secret) friends with benefits like is CRA ZAYYYYYYY
