"What are we gonna do?" Benny sighed to Maya.

"About what? The competition?" Maya asked knowing there was so many things that question could have really meant.

"Yea... that too. Small's is acting like the world is against him. This is our friend group. He is a part of it. How can we fix it?" Benny's said putting his hands over his face brushing them up against his hairline.

"Do you think...you think too much happened between us and Smalls? You think that there is too much to go back to how we were? I mean we can't really get past it. Think about everything that happened Benny." Maya said as she gripped the ball she was throwing in her hands and let the laces scratch her skin.

"But it's over. He can forgive us." Benny tried to convince himself.

Maya looked at him and gave him an unreadable look.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing, it's just. Nothing."

"You sure? What did you just think of?"

"I can see how it's hard. For Small's. It's not like I didn't have feelings for him. But two seconds later I am back with you."

"And?" Benny said starting to get nervous. He wasn't sure what Maya was going to say next. All he knew was that he hoped it wouldn't break him again.

"The point is, he feels betrayed. Even though he says he knew it was always going to be me and you together. He probably felt like...like he had a shot."

Benny wasn't nervous anymore he was more agitated at the fact that Maya is talking about her relationship with Smalls because he is the only guy he wanted in her life.

"I know, but Maya, it's over. Drop it."

"If I were him I probably wouldn't forgive that quickly!"

"Well if you feel that way go back to him." Benny rolled his eyes.

"What? Are you even listening to me." Maya said shocked.

"Yes, yes, listen. I don't want to argue, I don't-I just don't want to hear about you and Small's okay?"

"Okay." Maya said and looked at the ground.

"That doesn't seem like an 'okay' okay. Maya you have no idea how much you mean to me. The fact that your back here is the reason I'm here too. You make us work, and everything else too. You gotta believe me. It feels like I'm out here by myself right now though." Benny admitted.

"You still thinking about Smalls?" Benny said acknowledging her silence and outward gaze.

"I'm not going to lie we are at a weird spot. Everyone is, to be honest. My attempt at bringing us all back together is not working! What happened was too big."

"Don't think like that, we are back together. That's all that matters. Let's start small, you and me. Then the rest of the guys will follow. We can make it past the weird spots first. How about that?" Benny pleaded.

"How?" Maya said looking up to Benny with her big eyes looking somewhat defeated.

"We will figure it out. We have to build this from the bottom up. But you have to be here with me."

"Okay."

"Okay?"

"Yea."

"Maya you need to trust me, we got this."

"Okay."

Benny took Maya's arms and wrapped them around him for a big hug.

"I trust you." Maya added.

Benny smiled big and his hazel eyes looked down at Maya with happiness.
