The ones I cannot forget

Contentedly me

" HI" I screamed, grinning at Katie. I ran u and we hugged. We had been away from each other way too long.
" I missed my beautiful best friend" she squealed again, swinging back and forth.
" me too, I need my daily does of Katie, who else?" I giggled into her shoulder. She pulled away from me and sat on the grey, two seater, leather sofa.
She patted the seat next to her. " we need to do some serious catch up!" She giggled as I sat next to her. " so how are things?" She asked.
" great actually, a bit rough recovering. On Monday night I got drunk, Tuesday I destroyed everything that reminded him of me and then got drunk again, Wednesday I cried more and ate for the first time, Thursday I cried less and Friday I didn't cry at all. By Saturday i was ready to come back and knew that I was over him" I giggled at how stupid it all sounded.
" drunk? Bad girl! Well are you ok now though?" Katie gave me a playful shove.
" yeah I'm.... How can I put it?" I searched for words.
" happily single?" Katie prompted.
" yeah but no.... Ah! Contentedly me" I giggled at the awesomely cheesy phrase.
" perfect! So glad you're ok now"
I changed the subject. " so how's you and Leon?"
" great, better than ever. It feels like we have been dating for ages. And he's so sweet and romantic."
" that sounds like my brother if he puts his mind to things" I giggled.
" totes, he is sweet though" Katie's eyes sparkled and I could tell she really loves him.
" aww relationship goals. Any other gossip?"
" well Patrick broke down in a meeting the other day, it was in Tuesday so he got the week off as well. I don't think he told the boss the real reason but he seemed so upset." She informed me.
" oh that's kind of sad..." I muttered, heart throbbing a little.
" yeah- oh and I think I know someone who has a crush on you!" Katie beamed, so exited.
" who who?"
" Lee Natward. No offence but he was doing my head in and I heard him chatting on the phone he said "yeah but I'm not gonna treat her like other girls. In fact I stopped being a player for her and would settle down for her only" he was so talking about you, he's been with every other girl." Katie nodded excitedly.
" oh well, I don't think he does and he definitely wasn't talking about me. Probably just because I'm the one he can't get" I nodded. I didn't want anyone to know I had a crush on Lee so I kept it quiet. Katie didn't need to know yet, I never told her when I liked Patrick.
" whatever you say" Katie sighed.
" yeah well I feel like a little kid, catching up on all the gossip" I laughed, Katie giggled too. " I better get back to work and make up those hours." I stood up and walked over to my computer for a normal first half of the day.
At lunch I took my bag and walked to the staff room. I walked past lee's room and he wasn't inside, I hoped he was but I hadn't seen him anywhere. Maybe he was in the staff base?
At the staff base sat one person only, Leon!
" LEON!" I shouted, he dropped his food and ran up to me. We hugged for several seconds.
" oh sis I missed you. Are you ok? sit down"he let me go and pulled out a chair.
"Hey I'm fine, contentedly me" I laughed, using that phrase again.
" so glad. I need to catch up with you" he breathed a sigh of relief.
" haha yeah I missed you, how's you and Katie?" I asked.
" great actually, Autumn, I think she really likes me" he smiled, excitedly.
" too right she does! She talks about you loads!" I made his day!
" wow really that's so cool! I can't believe that! She-" the door flung open. " uh... Autumn" Leon grabbed my arm. I thought it was Sean, the smile on my face fell.
" Sean I-" I turned around and saw Patrick standing at the door.
" ah Autumn, I thought you'd be here" he smiled.
He wanted to see me??? Why? Did he want me back? What would I do if he asked me? What is happening? A million questions rushed through my head at a hundred miked per hour.
" um dude I don't think she wants to see you" Leon started awkwardly
" I have this" I muttered through gritted teeth at Leon. " it's ok, we're just work mates" I smiled and spun back around.
" can we talk please?" He asked.
" go ahead, I was just leaving annyways. I have finished" Leon flashed an empty lunch box. He patted me on the arm and walked to the door. " text me Autumn" he smiled before walking down the corridor. Patrick pulled out a chair next to me.
" so what's up?" I asked as he sat down.
" you ok?" He asked, it made me laugh. Even after a rough breakup he still cared if I was ok.
" oh you know Autumn Rivers, just contentedly me" I giggled " what about you?"
"Yeah good. So what are we?" He asked skipping to the point.
" just work mates" I smiled, his fake smile wavered.
" yeah I thought that too" he lied. I don't think he wanted me back but he wanted me closer than just mates. He wanted me to want him. He must have wondered how I moved on when he obviously hadn't, I felt bad for him.
" cool...so" I muttered me trying to think of what to say. The door swung open again.
Standing at the door were the two sisters, my closest friends other than Katie.
Sarah was older and had a squished, freckle face which matched her pale skin, and had short fawn hair which was the Exact Same colour as her sister, Lily. Lily is younger but taller. She has longer hair than Sarah too.
" sorry are we interrupting something?" Lily asked awkwardly.
" no it's all good, I was just leaving" Patrick forced another smile and sprinted out of the staff base.
" is everyone ditching me today?" I thought to myself.
" hey can we eat out lunch with you?" Lily asked.
" totes!" I giggled.
" so we heard about the breakup" Sarah sighed. "How's it going?" She asked.
" well it's actually fine, I'm just as always, contentedly me" I carried on using the same phrase.
And the conversation went on like any other.
After lunch I walked back to my desk, Lee was just leaving his office and walked out almost onto me. his face lit up. being in his company felt so different, my heart was racing and I began to shake.
" oh hey gorgeous !" He smiled acting extra hyper for some reason, maybe Katie was right. Hopefully Katie was right.
"Why do you always call me that, we're not even together ?" I asked, acting innocent and confused.
" beautiful? Because you are" he chuckled.
" yeah right" I rolled my eyes, laughing.
" I missed you loads" he stroked my face.
" I missed.....everyone" I hesitated, shivering." I gotta get back to work though" I sighed.
" same I gotta to deliver these" Lee smiled my wafting a bunch of files in my face .
" bye then" I muttered walking up the corridor.
" by the way, tip of the day: wear that dress it suits you! Stay sexy" he laughed again and I shook my head. As soon as I reached the stair well I cheered and ran excitedly to my office. I would be definitely wearing this dress more often now.
" hey how's it going?" Katie asked as I entered the room.
" great!" I smiled and sat down.
"Well done Autumn, you're finally back to normal" I giggled....little did I know what loomed in the future.

Hey guys it's me! Did you like this part? So Autumn is finally back at the place she loves, her workplace. Everything is finally seeming normal exempt for one thing, she's single. Even Lee and her are starting to form a bit of chemistry. Will they ever hook up?what looms in the future? Could the contentedly me catchphrase get any more cliche?
