I sat in my room pressing a hand to my lips. My face heated up at the mere memory of it. Though for once in my life, I witnessed an extraordinary moment, when the pleas of the city were gone.
As if in that moment, everything inside of me was content, fulfilled.
"Stop fantasizing you pervert." He groaned.
"Shut it Nakahara!" I snapped embarrassed. He sighed and continued browsing my books.
"Tell me, why do you have such boring things to read?" He whined.
"You're asking a blind girl about her literary choices? I can't even read them." I smirked. He tossed the book he had in his hand onto the ground and skimmed through the others.
"So you and the dog huh?" He mused sitting down on the couch next to me.
"Why must you make that sound so horrible. Don't refer to him as a dog."
I felt him flick me on the head before laughing triumphantly.
"Props to you kid. Who knew you had it in you to go after Akutagawa." He sang. I punched him in the arm and continued thinking back to yesterday evening.
Ryu was someone I held dear to me, I loved him for years even when that meant leaving the Port Mafia to find myself. I never thought about what I did had done to him. I never thought about how he felt.
Though in that moment I think we both learned something about eachother.
No matter how broken, how damaged, how scared we can get, there's always someone in a similar condition as yourself. And maybe, just maybe you can piece eachother together.

The nighttime no longer consumed me. I held it within me now, adapting to it's harshness.
The sounds of night all an allure to sleep. Though I had no such intentions. I sat on the edge of the dock breathing in the smell of the sea air.
I closed my eyes trying to imagine what it would look like. The position of the moon, the shining stars, the waves crashing against the shore.
I embraced the silence with open arms.
Then the sound of a gunshot tearing through the darkness. The cool breeze of the sea. The impact of the water on my skin.
