Chuuya
Days passed and slowly we bagn seeing glimpses of the old Yoko. The one who wasn't targeted time and time again. The one who's soul had yet to be shattered.
But with each passing day a sense of dread grew more and more potent. Other men became anxious, fearing the impending threat of The Guild's arrival.
The Guild was the epicenter of the American Underworld. Their leader was just assassinated, meaning someone else had to rise to the occasion.
Yoko snuck back to Ethan Rivers' home and sorted through his paperwork until he found a list of names with corresponding abilities.
"This one seems to stand out among the rest..." she mumbled pointing at the name at the top of the list.
"Francis Scott Fitzgerald with the ability The Great Gatsby" I recited. She nodded flipping through the pages.
"They have quite the amount of numbers."
Even with Yoko and Akutagawa working together, it may not be enough to thin the Guild's numbers.
"These guys aren't just some random organization. They do whatever is necessary to reach their goal." Akutagawa muttered walking in. He had an angered expression and Yoko seemed to avoid looking at him.
What happened this time?
"You met with Dazai Osamu again didn't you Yoko." Akutagawa accused. In response she stood from her chair and shut the files we were looking at.
"I did. Keeping Dazai as an ally is not as horrible as you make it out to be! He's done nothing but help us!"
Akutagawa narrowed his eyes at her before tossing an envelope onto her desk and leaving.
The tension slowly faded from the room, and with it emotion became amplified.
"Dammit!" She cursed slamming her fist down on the table. Ever since the incident at the pier, the temperature would drop whenever she was angry or upset.
But now was different. We could see our breath indoors, frost spread from the corners of the windows, even her desk began to crack from the cold.
"Yoko you need to calm down or you might turn us into living popsicles." I laughed. She stared at her hand and took the evelope that Akutagawa left behind.
'People live to save themselves -Dazai'
A short message was all that was written on the paper yet it brought Yoko to tears.
Theres so much more I wanted to know. I wanted to be able to share her burden.
But instead I only ignite the rage.
