Akutagawa
The city. Full of noise, could also seem so quiet. It felt still, like the world was holding its breath.
That's when I spotted her. She looked more mature now. Her hair longer, taller than the last time I saw her, but thin. She probably wasn't getting enough food. I doubted she had much money.
But she kept walking down the sidewalk with her head hung low. Out of curiosity I decided to follow her.
We're different people now. Broken beyond repair.
She turned down an alley and slipped into its shadows. I followed not far behind and turned the corner out of sight from the rest of civilization.
When I glanced back in front of me her face was in mine.
"Why are you following me?! Who are you?!" She exclaimed looking up at me. My heart sunk deep into my gut. Not only did she sense me so easily, but she didn't even remember me.
"I'm finally taller than you." I sneered backing out of hitting range. Her expression changed. Not to one of rage or annoyance, but along the lines of shock.
"How did you find-"
"Pure coincidence." I muttered shoving my hands in my pockets. Deep down I just wanted to embrace her, but I couldn't.
"Stop hunting me-"
"I wasn't."
She stood flustered. I recognized the familiar way she would bite her lip when she was thinking.
"I believe I'm taller than you. Meaning you have to come back with me now." I stated. She groaned turning and kicking the wall.
"You suck Ryu." She whined.
Sure. Whatever makes your day.
"Let's go." I looked back at her and she was holding the sleeve of my coat.
"S-Say Ryu? Do you think we could... get something to eat first?"
I rolled my eyes and dragged her back to the busy streets.
She's here. I can see her. I can hear her. She's with me again.
