Akutagawa

I hated just sitting around. Boredom overwhelmed me. So I go out into town and just walk amongst the shadows.

The Silent Rabid Dog.

I wasn't sure whether that was a compliment or an insult. Either way, it was rather catchy.

I kept my distance from the other citizens. Few would be able to identify me, but even if they did, they wouldn't get the information far.

"You've run off your leash again." A voice muttered. I spotted her small frame leaning against a bookstore window.

"You left with no warning. I think thats a bad trait to grow accustomed to Tawada."

She shrugged her shoulders and lifted her face to the sky.

"It's going to rain."

I stared at her with amazement. This girl, so bewildering and annoying at the same time. How a single person could be so insubordinate.

"You should come back with me." I stated. It wasn't a question. I wanted her to return. I needed to shake the silence back there.

"No can do Ryu." My fists clenched at my sides.

Why not?!

"I left for a reason. I can't go back just yet."

And what do you know, slowly droplets of rain started to fall from the sky coating the ground in a film of water.

"Osamu will miss you." I uttered angrily.

"I don't care what Dazai says or thinks. He knows why I'm doing this."

She was pushing me away. Further and further with every sentence. My chest ached for her to come back home.

Home.

"If you're searching for forgiveness, I'll give it to you. You're forgiven Yoko!"

The rain poured into a deluge. It's relentless effort drowning us in the middle of the city.

"You and I both know it's deeper than that." She whispered. I glared at the ground beneath me, wondering if it could just swallow me whole.

Maybe then I could be saved from the racing of my heart.
