Today you said some things to me,
You no longer could keep inside.
Your cracks shown through,
Black and blue.
Your demons came alive.
I felt saddened,
That these broken thoughts,
So secretly you did hold.
But how could I criticise you,
When I had held onto mine to?
Maybe we were both oblivious,
To our broken sides.
The truth is,
You make me forget,
And I remember how to smile.
So naturally,
To those broken words,
I didn't know how to reply.
What kind of friend was I ,
Not to have realised?
You said you wanted to run away,
But my selfish heart,
Wants you to stay.
I need you.
You keep me sane.
You make me forget my broken lies.
So a desperate heart said what it said,
Desperate to make you stay.
And I know words are just words,
And pain doesn't just float away.
But I hope I learn to make you forget,
Just a little,
Each day.
I swear I will be there for,
When your barely-beating heart.
Is broken in two.
And maybe one day,
Forgetting will be easier for you to.
