"Dad! Dad!" I turned from my work desk to my two children who were tugging at my shirt.
"Hm? What is it?"
"Look what we found!" They both held a toad, brown and small, not seeming to have a care in the world.
I chuckled. "Very fine frog, if I do say so myself." They giggled and ran to their room.
I turned back to my work but was pulled away from it when I heard, "Romano." I smiled-

-----

"Romano! Come on!!" Italy shook me awake and my head jolted up. I looked around the meeting room and found everyone else was gone, except me and my brothers. "Fratello were you dreaming again?" I thought about it.

Was I? I was... It was all just a dream. "GODDAMMIT!" I shouted. I groaned in frustration.

Toni put a hand on my shoulder. "Lovi, something has to be done. Whoever it is you're dreaming about, go talk to them. Ask them on a date. It's clear you really want to."

They were right. But it could just be my brain trying to mess with me- except my brain is the one thinking these words... Another groan and a sigh. "WHAT IF-" I stopped myself and cooled off a little before continuing, "What if he says no."

"Not likely," Antonio said, "If I'm correct about who it is."

Shoot me now. I cursed under my breath. I can't do this! But if I don't, I'll keep getting an even bigger crush. Shit. "Fine... I'll talk to the bastard..." Italy clapped his hands and Spain smiled. The three of us walked out to where Potato sat parked with his brother in the back. Toni's car was behind theirs, everyone else had left. I braced myself for what was about to happen. "Hey! Potato Bastard 2!"

Gilbert looked up through the window. How he knew I was talking to him is beyond me. He got out of the car and walked up to me. "What's up, Vino?" Literally the first person to not nickname me Lovi.

"I... Need to talk to you!" I grabbed his wrist and brought him inside the building for privacy. "Listen... Remember that night... When you hung out with me?"

"Yeah."

"Why did you?" My voice was softer now.

"Because you needed a friend, and I felt bad that Toni always had Francis and I over, but you never got to actually hang out with us."

"Oh."

We fell silent until: "Lovino, are you all right?"

"Y-Yes! I'm fine! I-"

"What did you really want to talk about?" His tone dropped to an almost whisper.

I hesitated. It has to be done... "Gil... Will you... Go on a date with me...? N-Not because I like you or-" I was interrupted by his laughter. Great...

"Duh!" Oh. "How about I'll text you later so we can set things up, 'kay?" I nodded, my cheeks a light shade of pink. "Great! See ya soon!" With that, he walked back outside and into the car. It took me a minute to collect myself before walking back out where Toni and Feli asked me questions.

"Did he say yes?"

"Why was he laughing?"

"Did you even ask?"

I stopped them with a smile and a chuckle. "Damn... I may have fallen too hard." That was all I said before walking to Toni's car and getting in the passenger.

That wasn't so hard... I thought about my dream that seem to have lasted forever, but was probably only thirty minutes at the most. Wait a minute... A lot of that dream wasn't very accurate. For instance, where was my vulgar attitude? I whispered to myself, "I don't even own any stuffed toys."
