I'd Like That

"What the hell were you thinking?" I roared as I angrily flung random items of clothing into a backpack while Alex stood helplessly at the door of our bedroom

"I never expected her to come back! She hasn't called or even messaged me in over a year! I got tired of waiting and when I found you, you were all that mattered!" He pleaded

"Bullshit!" I yelled to his face "You were ready to drop me if she even showed a hint of coming back!"

"That's not true Jamie, I swear! She means nothing to me now, you're my girlfriend, you are who I want to be with" He threw his hands up in submission

"Alex you were ready to fucking marry her, you're not ready to give up on her! I was just convenient so that you could take your mind off her!" I spat as I stuffed the bag to capacity and zipped it as best I could

"Jamie where are you going?" He sighed, getting frustrated now

"As far away from you as possible!" I shouted as I burst passed him

"Jamie, wait! Please. Just let me explain!" He begged as he followed me to the door

"Go to hell Karev" I roared before slamming the door in his face

I pressed my back against the wall and let out a huff as I slid down to the floor. I could hear a loud crash from inside, more than likely Alex throwing something against the wall. I felt tears prick at my eyes as I hugged my knees in tight against my chest. I sat there for a brief moment before getting up and leaving the apartment block.

A whole year. We've dated for an entire year and not once has he ever mentioned that he potentially had a fiancé! I drove aimlessly through town. There was no way in hell I was going to celebrate with the other interns now! I decided to pull over as I felt the tears starting to fall which only began to blur my vision. I sobbed quietly to myself as I beat my palm off the steering wheel.

"Screw you Alex Karev" I yelled to myself as I thrashed my arms around the car

I collected my thoughts once more and took one deep breath before pulling away from the curb. Fuck it! I'm going to Joes and I'm going to celebrate like it's my last night on this earth. I drove 10 minutes down the road and decided to park in the hospital car park. I walked across the street and composed myself before walking in.

"Heyyyy it's Doctor Quinn" I could hear Justin yell, already pretty intoxicated

"Hey Jamie you made it" Rose said softly as she came and hugged me

"This rounds on me guys" I smiled as they all cheered at my offer

I walked to the bar with Rose and ordered a round of tequila for my group of interns.

"Where'd you go?" Rose asked as we downed our shots

"I don't wanna talk about it tonight Rose" I said wincing at the sting of the alcohol

"Sure, ok. You're ok though, right?" She asked concerned

"I'm great" I smiled, ordering another drink for myself and Rose

The more time passed, the more alcohol was consumed and things became pretty crazy. We were dancing on the tables and flipping off the bar counter, beer pong appeared and more shots were thrown back. Anyone who wasn't an intern soon decided to leave and we became uncontrollable, but Joes was becoming too small and the guys wanted something a little wilder.

"We're heading to the night club down town, you ladies wanna join us?" Danny approached Rose, Cassie and I as we threw back one last round

"Sure!" The girls yelled in sync "you coming Quinn?" they turned to face me

"Uh you know what, I'm on call tomorrow so I should head home" I lied as I felt myself slurring my words

"Suit yourself" they shrugged as they all crowded out of the bar and onto the street

Once they had left, the bar was close to empty only for the few die hard locals sitting in the corner. I grabbed a stool at the far end of the bar counter and sat there with no intention of leaving that night. I ordered a beer and began picking at the peanuts in the bowl in front of me. I looked down the bar to see Arizona sitting there with another woman. I decided not to bother her and returned to drinking my beer as I watched late night sports on the TV. I soon heard things get a little louder from Arizona's direction and I took another glance down to see what the commotion was. The woman that was now towering over Arizona raised her voice as Arizona tried to calm her into sitting back down but this only angered the woman more and she lashed out. Her palm met with Arizona's face as she continued to shout at Arizona while she held her cheek. I decided that was enough. I stood up from the bar stool and casually walked in their direction as I saw the woman look directly at me. My fist connected with her cheek bone as I watched her fall to the ground and scramble out of the bar.

"You gotta keep on your toes with three older brothers" I bragged as I shook the sting from my fist and took a seat next to Arizona.

"Can I buy you a drink Dr Robbins?" I asked softly, still wondering if she was trying to avoid me

"I'd like that" she smiled in appreciation

I ordered two drinks for us and sat back down beside her.

"Thank you" she smiled her brilliant smile I so dearly missed "for getting rid of her, she was a bit of a mess" she gave a small laugh

"It's no problem" I smiled as Joe handed us our drinks

"So why didn't you leave with the rest of your friends?" Arizona asked as she took a swig from her bottle

"I'm not quite in the partying mood tonight" I mumbled as I looked down at my bottle

"Oh Jamie, were the boards that bad?" she asked concerned

"No, no they went really well. It's Alex" I sighed

"What did he do now?" Arizona said exhausted, knowing what Alex is capable of

"His good friend Jo showed up at our door today" I smiled sarcastically

"Oh" Arizona breathed in with a knowing look on her face "You didn't know about Jo did you?"

"Nope" I sighed as I took a mouthful of my drink

"God Alex you idiot" Arizona mumbled more so to herself than to me

"Yeah" I agreed

"So what happened?" she pressed on

"I left, I have no idea where I'm going but I'm sure as hell not staying with him anymore" I could feel tears welling up and I hung my head at the thought of today's events. I let out a small sob and Arizona placed her arm around my shoulder and pulled me in towards her

"Hey, hey. It's ok, he's an idiot but he didn't mean to hurt you" she whispered softly

"I don't think I can let this one go" I sobbed harder now

"How about you come stay at my place?" she offered

"Thanks Dr Robbins but.." I began as I lifted my head from her shoulder and turned to face her but she stopped me by placing her hand on top of mine on the counter

"Please, call me Arizona" she smiled sweetly and gave my hand a gentle squeeze

"It's ok Arizona, I'll crash in one of the girls apartments, honestly I'm fine. Thank you for the offer" I replied gratefully

"Please, it'll put me at ease knowing your safe. Dr DeLuca is gone home for the week so there's a spare bed with your name on it" she was such a sweetheart

"I'd like that" I repeated her words from earlier with a smile
