"Hey Jamie, how did you find the exam?" I heard Rose ask, as she approached me

"Pretty tough, I'm not going to lie. Hopefully I've done well enough to pass. How about you?" I asked as we walked towards the bus together

"Same here, I'm just praying I don't have to do fourth year all over again! Are you going to look for a different hospital for your specialty?" Rose inquired as we entered the bus and sat beside one and other

"Nah, I'd prefer to stay at Grey-Sloan. With the baby coming and Arizona being here, I think it's easier if we all stay" I replied "Have you thought about moving?"

"I've gotten an offer from John Hopkins and Washington University, but I'm not sure what I want to do yet. It's such a big decision you know? You're lucky, you've got your life here, you're going to have a beautiful family and I have no doubt you're going to become one of the best surgeons Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital has ever seen" Rose said, adding her pep talk towards the end

"Oh please" I waved my hand dismissively as I began to blush "I guess, I'm pretty lucky the way everything just seemed to fall into place"

We sat and talked, reminiscing about our years in Grey-Sloan as the bus began the journey home. Everyone was relieved to have the boards behind them, looking forward to what lay ahead for us all. As we began to reach the outskirts of Seattle my phone began to ring in my pocket.

"Hey babe" I answered with a smile after seeing the caller ID

"Hey Jay, how'd it go?" Arizona replied

"I'm pretty happy with it, I just hope I've done enough" I replied honestly

"I'm sure you were amazing Jamie. I'm so proud of you, you know that?" she said, sounding pretty emotional

"Don't start getting soppy on me Arizona" I laughed

"It's true! You've overcome so much Jamie and I'm so lucky to have you" she gushed

"I love you Arizona Robbins" I smiled against the phone

"I love you Jamie Quinn" she sighed contently as we both hung up the phone

We drove a little further into Seattle, the bus was quiet with people either sleeping or too exhausted to make small talk. The roads were foggy and visibility wasn't the best as the driver began to slow down the bus. As we went on I soon heard a crushing blow, at first it all happened so fast that I didn't realize the sound was coming from our bus, but time began to slow and we were thrown mid air as the bus flipped a full 180 and came crashing down on its roof. At first it felt as if I was just a spectator in this accident but I soon felt the horrendous crush of the roof coming down on top of me. My legs had lodged under the seat in front of me and I could feel a sharp object piercing my shoulder. I heard the cries of pain but also a deathly silence. Shock had just set in and I didn't know whether to scream or stay still. The pain became too much, however, and the only way I knew how to alleviate the searing agony was to scream. But I could feel the dizziness coming, my eye lids grew heavier and my sight began to fail as I was plunged into an uncertain, unwanted darkness.

"I love you Jamie Quinn" I sighed contently and hung up the phone

I returned to the NICU to check on the babies and completed my rounds on all the post op kids. I continued with finishing up some paper work and was ready to call it a day.

"Arizona we need you in the pit, there's been an accident" Dr Avery said gravely

"Jackson, what is it?" I asked concerned, seeing the look on his face

"It's Jamie" he barely whispered

My heart dropped at his words. I could feel the color drain from my face and I knew straight away this wasn't good. I followed quickly in his footsteps down to the pit where Dr Bailey, Hunt and Kepner stood.

"What the hell happened?" I choked

"The visibility has been dangerous all evening, the fog got too much and the bus driver collided with a truck, sending the bus and the passengers flipping into the air." Dr Bailey explained

I felt my stomach knotting as I thought of Jamie, stuck in the bus, with god knows how many possible injuries. Before I could contemplate on it any more, a screeching siren came from outside as the ambulance pulled up with the first victim. I watched and waited as he was wheeled in on the gurney. It was the driver. As soon as they had him inside another two ambulance came. And that's when I saw her. One of her legs looked badly damaged and there was a large metal spike protruding from her right shoulder. She was unconscious as Amelia approached her to do a swift head examination.

"I need to get a head CT stat! There's signs of a head trauma here and I need to get to it before you try anything else" she ordered

"What about the baby?" Kepner asked as she walked towards Jamie

"Kepner there's no time for that now, I need to get Jamie to an OR before she's left like a vegetable! If you want to deliver the baby now, then do it while I'm operating" Shepherd said sternly

"She's only 24 weeks, it's too early to deliver" Kepner argued

They debated among themselves for a moment before turning to me. I couldn't speak, I couldn't move. My whole body had frozen and I had no idea how to react to what was happening right in front of me. My wife was laying there, helpless and in pain, and I couldn't even find the words to answer for her or even begin to help her.

"Arizona?" April asked softly

"Save my wife" I barely whispered as my bottom lip quivered

Amelia nodded in agreement but April seemed to disagree.

"Arizona, your baby could die. Jamie's body has already been put through a horrendous trauma, the baby can't take much more" April argued

"Save my wife" I growled and with that Amelia began pushing the gurney towards the elevator, taking Jamie to the OR floor

I ran to the gallery and watched as Dr Hunt and Dr Shepherd prepped Jamie for surgery. Amelia was going to work on the brain injury while Owen was going to stabilize the rest of her wounds, making sure there was no excess bleeding. Karev was called in to monitor the baby's vitals while they operated. I watched as they poked and prodded Jamie's body. I felt the tears stream down my face as I watched the love of my life fight for her life. I soon felt a comforting arm around my shoulder as I turned to see Meredith sitting beside me.

"She's a frickin' fighter Robbins. No way is she going to give in. She loves that baby too much, she loves you too much" Meredith tried to calm me

I nodded as I leaned into her embrace. Trying to fight the pain I felt eating me up inside. The procedure was long and tedious. Owen removed the metal rod from Jamie's shoulder and was able to reset her fractured clavical. The orthopedic surgeon on call was brought in to reset Jamie's shattered femur and make sure there were no ruptures in the vessels of her legs. Amelia continued working on Jamie's brain bleed. I heard a sharp beeping from the corner of the room and I knew something was going wrong. Alex looked up from the monitor to me.

"Robbins we need you down here now!" Alex yelled up to the gallery
