Wait For Me

** General P.O.V **

Meredith entered the front door of her house after a long 14 hour shift. As soon as she entered the hall she found clothes scattered all along the floor leaving a trail from the kitchen all the way up the stairs.

"What the hell?" Meredith mumbled to herself

She walked to the foot of the stairs and began picking up the trail of clothes as she started to climb the stairs and follow the trail that lead straight to Jamie's bedroom.

"Jamie what the hell are yo.... oh dear god, sorry!" Meredith began but was caught by surprise when she entered Jamie's room and saw Jamie and Arizona lying together in the bed with only sheets covering their naked bodies

"Hey Mer" Jamie said nonchalantly

Arizona's face lit up a bright red as she gave an embarrassed smile towards Meredith. A knowing look fell across Meredith's face as she gave a smirk.

"Never mind" she laughed as she left the room

*Jamie's P.O.V. *

I turned to Arizona as Meredith left the room and saw her bright red cheeks. She let out an adorable giggle as she hid her face in my shoulder

"Hey it's not like I've never picked up after Meredith and Derek" I laughed as I gently placed a kiss on Arizona's forehead

"Yeah but Jamie, I mean she thought we were never going to see each other again and now she catches us in bed together" Arizona argued

"I'll talk to her" I whispered trying to calm her

Arizona burst into a huge grin as she leaned in to kiss me on the lips

"What's that for?" I grinned

"I've missed this so much" she smiled

"Me too" I said softly as I wrapped my arm around her shoulders as Arizona lay her head on my chest

"But we do need to talk about everything that's happened Jamie" Arizona's tone grew serious

"I know" I sighed "but can we not do this right now Arizona? I just want to enjoy this moment" I asked

"Of course" she smiled as she looked up at me adoringly

I lay my head back against the pillow as we just lay there in silence. What was I thinking? Pushing her away like that. I could've never made it through this without her. She was all I ever needed and I was completely blind towards that fact. I never wanted this to end. I just wanted to hold her in my arms like this for the rest of our lives.

Just as this thought entered my head, my pager began beeping on my nightstand.

"You've got to be kidding me" I growled as I grabbed the pager from the stand beside me "Ugh, I'm sorry Arizona, I have to go" I apologized sincerely

"It's ok, go do your thing" she smiled supportively

I jumped from the bed and began throwing on my underwear and slipping into a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt while throwing my tousled hair up into a bun. Before I left the room I walked back over to Arizona and leaned over to kiss her lips.

"Wait for me" I whispered

"I'm not going anywhere" she smiled against my lips

"What is it Dr Karev?" I huffed as I entered the pediatric ward

"We've got a 4 year old boy just diagnosed with reye's syndrome. This thing has spread straight to his liver. We gotta put him on dialysis for now, but I need you to prep for an organ extraction because if he gets worse it's going to affect his brain. I'm gonna need to remove his liver, he's top of the transplant list but I don't know how long he'll last without a new liver." Karev explained with a look of concern

"Of course. I'll get to it right away" I said as I picked up a tablet at the nurses station with the patient's information

Alex and I walked to the young boy's room to prep him for emergency surgery.

"Good afternoon Mrs Barton. My name's Dr Quinn and I'm here to help take care of Jason with Dr Karev. Unfortunately there's been a decline in Jason's liver function and even with the help of dialysis it's declining too rapidly. We're going to have to remove Jason's liver and place him on permanent dialysis until a new one becomes available. Jason is top of the transplant list and we're doing everything we can to get him a new liver but right now we can't wait around any longer so we're going to prep him for surgery for this evening. I know this is a lot to take in but if you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to ask myself or Dr Karev" I tried to be as sensitive as possible as I explained Jason's situation to his mother.

Her hand flew to her mouth in devastation as she realized the severity of the situation. She became overwhelmed with all of the information and began to cry as she tried desperately to hide her turmoil from her son. I walked over to her and placed my hand on her shoulder in support.

"I promise you we're going to do everything we can for your son. Just take a breath. This is a lot to take in, I get that. But right now Jason needs his mom. He's scared and he's surrounded by strangers. I promise you he can give you more strength than you could alone." I said softly

She nodded as she began to wipe her tears away and take a huge intake of air as she tried to calm herself.

"Thank you doctor" she smiled as she walked back towards her little boy

I simply nodded in reply as I approached Jason and began prepping him.

"Good job Jamie" Alex whispered as he passed me to walk towards the other side of Jason
