ANDREA
"Shot pa kayo!" sigaw ni Cha habang sinasayawan 'yung music ng napakalaki nilang speaker. Nag ayang mag sleep over at uminom si Cha sa bahay nila. She gets really crazy when the alcohol hits.
By the way, it's pronounced as 'She' not 'Shi'. Hindi naman talaga umiinom yang babaeng 'yan. Masyado pang good girl.
"Naka dalawang baso na 'ko, Cha. I feel really sleepy." sabi niya at nilayo yung baso.
They're both from Batangas, actually. It reminded me of my home. But it's long gone. It died with my father 2 years ago, and I shouldn't try to think about it.
I've been friends with these freaks since high school. They are my ride or die.
When my mom died, I became a wreck and relied on my dad and Nat. Hindi kinaya ni daddy, and it made him do stupid things. More than a year later, he died too. Akala ko, nandun pa rin siya para alagaan ako just like when we were kids. We're cousins, for goodness' sake!
But no. She closed the door on me, she and her dad. Mga walang puso. Tito Fred took everything my dad built and shut me off!
But look at me now? If K-12 didn't happen, nasa college na ako ngayon! I didn't need anyone's help. I only needed coach, and she's the only family I have now and these hooligans playing by the pool.
The house was quite big but was just enough for the three of us. "Preparation mo na to for college, ha?
The kitchen and living room was separated by the stairs. There were two common bathrooms, three rooms and two of them shared a balcony facing the driveway. Since we were equally sharing this 15,000 peso apartment, nagbunutan kami.
Kami ni Cha yung magkahating balcony. We were all settled at unti unti na ring nagdala ng gamit kahit may three weeks pa kami. I guess we were really that excited to be together.
Coach volunteered to take me to the coffee shop, where I was working. I'd eventually be independent after college. You could think of this as a preparation." ngiti ko habang inaayos ko yung aapron.
"After two weeks, tapos na' ko dito. Pwede mo na akong lambingin, all you want." biro ko at umakmang aalis. "Your mom and dad would've been so proud." bulong niya nang niyakap ako.
"I hope so." sabi ko pabalik. "Sige na, umuwi ka na, coach. I'll text you when I'm done, like I always do." sabi ko na para bang nagpapaalala.
Pumunta ako sa may counter at pinagmasdan siyang umalis. She was just my swimming coach when I was a kid. Ngayon, siya na ang bumubuhay saakin. Fate does fuck with you.Who knows what might happen in the coming years?
