"I'm surprised you wanted to meet me."

Nasa coffee shop kami ngayon ni Alora kaya hindi ko na muna nireplyan si Verson. After she followed me on Instagram two nights ago, I finally had the courage to direct message her and tell her we should meet. Kagabi ko lang yun ginawa pero ang bilis niya akong pinagbigyan.

"It's been a while." I smiled with tight lips.

"It's been a while since you ghosted me." I felt very awkward but the way she said it made me think twice. She smiled with her dimple showing, just like it did before.

"About that..." I kept my awkward smile and held back. She deserves this, Justin. It's an apology, you better do it now. "Overdue na 'to but... I'm sorry."

"I know you are." she scoffed and rolled her eyes like she was mocking me. "Continue."

"A-ah, yes. We were very young back then, Als. Naalala mo naman siguro kung gaano ako katanga dati?" binaba ko yung baso ko sa coffee table. I leaned forward so I could be closer to her.

"Oo naman." she nodded in agreeance.

"I wasn't ready to be in a relationship with you. It's not enough reason to run away but I didn't want to hurt you."

Medyo matagal bago siya sumagot sa sinabi ko. Naiintindihan ko naman, syempre. She just stared at me for a while and let out a sigh,

"I don't wanna talk about it now." she grabbed her coffee and took a sip, "I want to catch up... How have you been?"

"Uhm, I'm good. I took economics, how about you?" I loosely asked. She nodded a little,

"Mass Communication." she gave me a 'I'm surprised' look. I didn't think she was headed for the media route.

"I actually didn't believe it when I saw your Instagram. My camera shy best friend wants to model and be a reporter?--" It took me a while to realize what I just said.

"Great, I'm still your best friend." she said it nicely but knowing her, it was sarcasm.

"Als..."

"I was kidding." she shook her head. I tilted my head a little to the side and felt a vibration in my pocket. I ended it as soon as I saw Verson's name on it.

"Anyways, how are you doing? Are you dating anyone?" tuloy tuloy ko nang tinanong. I didn't want to be awkward around her so I had to act casual.

"Oh I'm single. Last guy I dated was back in freshman year. I decided I didn't want any distractions--" hindi niya natapos yung sinasabi niya dahil nag ring nanaman yung cellphone ko.

"It's fine. You should answer it." she nodded and kept sipping on her coffee.

"Verson, I'm really busy right now. If this is about--"

[Something happened. You have to come home now.]

"Huh? Is this an emergency?"

[Yes it is. You better hurry before mom beats the shit out of me.]

"Wh- What do you mean?" I can see that it's starting to freak out Alora so I turned my head to the side.
