Magnus walks up to the new York institute wondering why he was there. He hadn't been summoned here in a long time, they usually called someone else.
"Follow me." Maryse lightwood says, walking away, not making sure he is following her.
"What is this about?" He asks as she walks into the library.
"My sons found this while out on patrol two nights ago." She says, pointing to a large book laying on a table. "I need you to tell me what it is."
"Why me? You could've summoned any other warlock."
"I did, they didn't know what it was."
"I see." He says, walking over to the table.

When magnus leaves the library an hour later, he has a throbbing headache so he's not paying attention to where he is going.
"Are you ok?" Asks the person he just walked into.
"Yeah." He says, looking into the brightest blue eyes he's even seen.
The young man smiles and says, "Alec lightwood." He says, extending his hand.
"Magnus bane, high warlock of brooklyn." He says, taking his hand.
"Nice to meet you."
"You too."
After a moment of awkward silence, magnus says, "I really should be going."
"Ok." Alec says as magnus walks away. "Hey, izzy." Alec asks, walking into the kitchen where she is.
"Hey."
"How much do you know about the warlock magnus bane?"
"Why?"
"Just asking." Alec answers, tracing patterns on the counter.
"Why don't you come with me to his party tonight and find out for yourself?" She says, holding up the invitation.
"You have an invitation to his party?"
"Yep. Let's go get you ready." She says, pushing him out the door.

Alec follows izzy, simon, jace and clary into magnus's loft. He looks around trying not to get noticed.
"What are you waiting for." Izzy whispers to him. "Go find magnus."
"This is crazy. He says, turning around. "I'm leaving."
"Now why would you want to do a crazy thing like that?"
Alec turns around and finds himself staring into magnus's green cat eyes.
"Um. I. Um."
"Why don't you stay. Have some fun."
"Parties really aren't my thing."
"Maybe you just haven't been to a party with the right person." Magnus says, holding out his hand to alec.
Alec hesitates for a second then takes magnus's hand and is pulled through the crowd.

"You guys go ahead." Alec says when they are all on the sidewalk outside of magnus's loft. "I'm forgot my jacket upstairs."
Alec doesn't wait for an answer but turns and runs back inside.
"Alec." Magnus says, opening the door. "What are you doing back here?"
"I forgot my jacket."
"You wasn't wearing a jacket."
"I wasn't?"
"No. So, why don't you tell me why you really came back."
"Well. Um."
"Could it be for this?" Magnus says, leaning down and kisses alec softly.
"Wow." Alec says, breathlessly when magnus pulls away.
Magnus smiles at him, pulls him inside and closes the door.
