"Hey, mags. I got to go to the Institute for a little while. Max is in his crib."
"Why do you have to go?"
"Jace texted me, there was a sighting of some demons in central park."
"I hate it when you go on a hunt."
"I know." Alec says, kissing him. "I love you." Alec says, kissing him again and leaving.
Magnus turns around, takes a deep breath, running his hand through his hair.
"Now what?" Magnus thinks to himself.
As he starts to walk into his study, he hears max jabbering and pushes the thought of working away and walks into his sons room.
"Hey, blueberry." Magnus says, picking him up and sits in the rocking chair.
As max bounces on his legs, magnus notices he has on a onesie that he has never seen.
"Papa, will you marry my daddy?" He reads to himself.
When the words finally sink in, he reaches for his phone to call alec but realizes he left it in the living room.
As he rushes into the room, he sees alec sitting on the couch.
"Well." Alec says, smiling. "Will you?"
"You said you didn't want to get married until we could be married in the eyes of the clave."
"I know. We can, they gave us permission, we can have a real shadowhunter wedding."
"But the runes."
"Well, our alliance rune will be made permanent since clary added a heart into the design. The only thing you have to do is say yes."
Magnus pulls alec off the couch, kissing him deeply.
"Is that a yes?"
"Yes." Magnus says, leaning in to kiss alec again but then remembering that he is still holding max, he hugs his small family, having never been happier.
