"What happened to your face?" Jace asks when alec answers the door.
"What do you mean?"
"You have a bruise across your forehead and a long scratch down your nose."
"Um." Alec says, blushing.
"Alexander, darling." Magnus says, walking out of the bedroom. "Why don't you just tell them the truth?"
"Magnus."
"Let the man talk." Izzy says.
"No."
"So, what happened?" Clary and Simon both ask.
"Well." Magnus says, ignoring alecs protests. "I was giving Alexander one of his birthday presents, he lost his balance and he face planted into the headboard."
"Magnus." Alec groans. "I'm sure my mom doesn't want to hear that."
"Alec, it's ok." She says, smiling as they all walk in the dining room.
"Alexander." Magnus says, pulling alec to him.
"What?"
"I'm sorry." He says, kissing him.
"It's ok." Alec says, taking his hand.
