Alec crosses his eyes and puffs out his cheeks which makes the blue child in his lap laugh loudly at how silly his daddy is acting. When the child pushes on his cheeks, making alec blow a raspberry at him, the child laughs even louder.
"Mr. Lightwood."
Alec looks up, over his sons head and says, "yes, inquisitor herondale?"
"Need I remind you that this is a serious clave meeting not a place to entertain children?"
"Need I remind that you showed up in my institute unannounced to have this meeting."
"Mr lightwood, we need your vote on the proposed legislation."
Alec lays max on his shoulder and when the child nuzzles into his neck, alec stands up and starts to walk around the room.
"Are you talking about the proposed legislation that I have been against since day one?"
"Yes."
"The one that wants to tag all downworlders to make them easier to track?"
The inquisitor breathes loudly through her nose and says, "yes."
"My answer is still no and will remain no. Do I need to remind you that one of my children and my husband are both downworlders, even though I hate referring to them like that."
"No you don't need to remind me."
"Then why would you even think I would think about tagging them like animals? I would never tag my son and the closest to tagging my husband is the ring I put on his finger and the intimate tagging we do to each other."
"You let a downworlder tag a child of the nephilam?" Someone in the crowd says.
Alec looks at Izzy and jace and both of them are trying to hide their laughter. Alec hands max to Izzy and pulls his collar down, showing off the dark bruise at the bottom if his deflect rune and all the fading bruises on his collar bone.
"There are more but they are in places only my husband sees." Alec says, taking max from izzy. "My vote is no and will remain no." He says, walking out of the room.
