Earth, approximately 6000 years ago. Pink Diamond was beginning her colony on this small planet where she was made. As a new Diamond, she wanted to prove to the others that she was capable and worthy of her title.

She began creating the colony, starting with the gems that would help protect and govern her planet.

Among these gems were common soldiers, common thinkers, and a few more established gems that were sent from her Homeworld.
Pink Diamond thought it was a good start, but the other diamonds told her to begin building her army.

She did not like the idea of sending gems to fight for their lives for any reason, but the very thought that she'd need an army for any reason sounded aweful.

First came the Kindergarten managers who programed the drills to begin growing the gems on the planet. The gems to appear first were common Ruby soldiers, Pawns, expendables, they were sent to spyers and communication towers. Common places for common soldiers.
Next came the higher ranking soldiers. Quartz Soldiers were used as bodyguards, defenders of scared places. Generals for armies and overall protectors.

It all began in the Beta Kindergarten.

Verious Gems were made there and almost all of them came out with some kind of fault. Tanzenite was no different.

It's said, on Homeworld, that when a Tanzenite is to be made there must be a strong soldier to be its counter part. Pink Diamond already had a plan for her, but she could not wait to see her and show her who'd she would be paired with.

Instead she rushed her. Trying to get her to form before she was ready. It still took many years, and on the day she was to emerge, Pink Diamond was waiting.

She watched as the ground around her heated and began to glow, a hand, a head, then the torso emerged. She was magnificent. Her size was formidable alone. Perfect for the soldier she'd be tied to.
But something was wrong, she was still too hot, she wasn't solidifying, and then SNAP! All at once. Pink Diamond gasped and caught the Gem before she hit the ground. Her form cooled and shrank to the size of an average quartz soldier. Pink Diamond frowned. A Tanzenite should not be so small in stature, and so frail in composition. She had a mind to destroy her and start again. She thought for a moment and looked at the place where her intended soldier would emerge and decided it was too soon now. She carried the Tanzenite and set her in front of the soldiers emerging point.

"The Quartz that comes from this point is yours, you will obey her, protect her, and teach her things she may not understand, it is up to you."

After she spoke these words and received and complying nod, Pink Diamond left Earth to return to Homeworld to watch the progress of her colony from a further distance.

Tanzenite sat in front of the place where she'd meet her soldier. The managers of the kindergarten did best to avoid her on their daily business. Still she sat. Still she watched. She wondered what she'd look like, what she'd act like, how she'd think. She wondered all of this and more. Waiting, drawing am less symbols in the sand, occasionally speaking to other new Gems, but she was silent for the most part, and wanted to know more about the planet they were on.

Finally, the day arrived. Everyone was anticipating the new quartz and all were monitoring the progress. Perfect amount of time. The hours were counting down. A second longer and a defect would be made somehow.

Tanzenite suddenly great impatient and held out her hand optimistically and smiled.
"Come on... show me what you got."

BOOF!!

a flash of like and out exploded an amazing Jasper Quartz soldier. Her helmet was ablaze and her arms were flexed as if in response to Tanzenite's call.
She gasped and felt light flow through her body, she had never seen a more majestic looking Gem. Her hair was long and unkempt, her smile was wild and toothy, her body was built for strength and challenges, her eyes were like frozen amber. Tanzenite stared wide eyed and amazed as the Jasper looked down at her. Her helmet disappeared and she placed her hands on her hips and locked eyes with the miniscule blue Gem before her.
"I guess that means your with me."
