"You what!?" Pearl shouted, setting one of Steven's shirts down. Amethyst put her hand behind her head, she looked nervous.
"Uh, yeah, I was wondering if you could help us with getting her memories back." She explained again.
"No, no, no,no,no,no,no! I don't think that's a good idea."
"Why not?" Tanzenite asked, feeling offended.
"It's just, you know..."
"Just in case bringing your old memories back makes you forget your new ones." Garnet suddenly appeared through the temple door. Tanzenite could feel her eyes on her, despite not being able to see them through her visor.
"But how is that fair to me?" Tanzenite asked.
"... it's not." Garnet answered.
Amethyst put her arm down.
"It's not like anything bad could happen, if she does forget us, we'll just poof her right?" She looked back at Tanzenite for approval on that idea. She gave her a weak nervous smile and nodded slightly.
Either way I won't remember anything, you don't have anything to lose."
Pearl contemplated this, she looked to Garnet, who seemed to be deepen thought.
"What's going on?" Came Steven's small voice. They all turned around in Unison and looked at him.
"What's happening with your memory?" Tanzenite smiled a careful smile and walked over to him.
"Nothing you need to worry about, okay?" She poked his nose with a reassuring grin. Steven smiled.
"Okay, but, really... I might be able to help." Tanzenite dropped her smile with his persistence and looked back at the others.
"You know who could help..." Pearl said coming to a realization.
Steven smiled. Tanzenite looked between the two of them, suddenly they were all grinning slyly at her. She blushed.
"Whooo?" Tanzenite looked between Steven and Pearl, both of them had evil grins on their faces."Tanzenite... this is Peridot." She looked at the short Peridot in front of her, who looked both nervous, and excited to meet her. She extended her hand out to Peridot who took it and shook it gladly.
"Hello there, Steven you said she was a Tanzenite!?" She said looking star struck suddenly. Tanzenite felt embarassed with the way Peridot was looking at her.
Peridot moved closer to her and grabbed her arm and examined the white glove she was wearing. The she moved around to her back and looked at her link pink skin.
She touched her purple-pink hair and even examine her legs.
"I've never heard of a Tanzenite looking like you. Who were you made for? Is there a reason you're so... so small?" Tanzenite furrowed her brow at her.
"If I knew that I wouldn't be here." Peridot backed away.
"My apologies..." she cleared her throat.
"So what can I, the great and lovable Peridot, do for you?" Tanzenite had no idea what to say to her. She looked down to Steven and Amethyst.
"We needed your... technological, uum... whatcha-macallit."
"We need your help with old gem stuff."Steven said for clarity. Amethyst snapped.
"Yeah! Remember when you bragged about how you'd read some old report nonsense?"
"Well, yes, but how do connect that to me helping her, what does she even need, she's in perfect condition despite her obvious physical flaws, I don't see a problem with her." Peridot said gesturing to Tanzenite, who wasn't sure if she should take that as a compliment or not.
"She's been having trouble with her memories. She can't remember when she was made, who she was made for, anything." Amethyst explained. Tanzenite snapped back, deciding that what Peridot said was ment to be positive.
"I... yes... my mind...feels like a puzzle, and I've lost all the pieces except the corners." Peridot put on her thinking face.
"Well that could be due to the state of your gem, or likely a traumatic event in your past, but that's unlikely, usually Tanzenite's have a pretty relaxed existence and rarely do anything beyond caring for their injured Gem handlers." For some reason that made Tanzenite's stomach hurt.
"What about her gem?" Amethyst asked looking at Tanzenite's uneasy expression.
"It's cracked." She pointed to the slightly purple gem on Tanzenite's chest. It shone brightly, but from corner to corner, there was a large crack that seemed to glimmer at the mention of it.
"Wh- Tanzenite how long have you had that!?" Steven yelled worriedly.
"Steven, it's fine-" She started to reassure.
"It's not fine a cracked gem means that your body is going to get all static-y and you'll fall apart!"
"Steven just-" Tanzenite attempted to bring Steven back to his calm self.
"Listen! It'll be okay just let me heal you and it'll all be fine."
"Steven!" She finally yelled. He stopped. She hadn't noticed he was reaching out for her gem. She grabbed his wrists gently and placed them by his sides.
"Steven, it's always been this way, now longer than I can remember. I know you're powers are amazing, but it's never been fully healed..." Steven looked horrified to find this out.
"What happened to you?" He asked.
"Well... I don't remember reading anything about you specifically, but I know where we can find the reports, ahem" She said turning suddenly.
"Excuse me for just one moment..." she took a big breath and shouted.
"HEY LAZULI!" Responding to the call was a Lapis Lazuli Gem. Tanzenite locked eyes with her. She looked down.
"Yeah!" She replied.
"I'm going to help these guys out! I'll be back later!" Peridot shouted again.
"Okay! I'll see you then!" Lapis yelled, sounding bored and monotoned.
Peridot gave her a thumbs up and turned back. Tanzenite hadn't taken her eyes off of Lapis yet.
"Who... is she?" She asked.
"Oh her? That's Lapis, she recently separated from a horrible fusion, now she lives here, with me, isn't that great!?" Peridot said excitedly.
Tanzenite glared in her direction.
"A fusion?" She said quietly.
"Yeah, it was with some beefy Gem named Jasper they landed on Earth a while back..." whatever Steven said after that faded into nothing. Tanzenite just stared at Lapis, who sat, looking bored, staring at a television set. She balled her hands into a tight fist.
"Jasper." She said under her breath.
"Yo T." Amethyst pat her arm, ripping Tanzenite from her thought. She looked down and smiled like she wasn't going crazy.
Steven had finished his obviously crazy story and was looking excited to help her again.
She looked at Peridot.
"So... are we heading out?" Peridot grinned a wide smile.
"YUP, alright let's get this show on the road, so to speak, we're actually taking the warp pad there." Tanzenite giggled at her. She found Peridot's antics quite funny.
"Alright... let's go."
