As they drove down the coastal road, Tanzenite could feel her mind wandering. She didn't dare let it wander too far though. She looked back to the people in the car and saw that Greg was talking excitedly to Steven, who was replying just as excited. At one point, Connie stood up to tell Steven something, which made both of them laugh.
Humans are interesting creatures. She thought. The random.convorsation about movies and pop culture, or what bands were popular recently and "back in the day," as Greg put it.
Tanzenite listened to the convorsation until at one point Steven turned back to her.
"Hey Tanzenite, are you getting hungry? Well... What I should say is, do you eat?" Tanzenite ripped herself from her thought and looked at him.
"I... yes, I eat." She smiled.
"Awesome! You and Amethyst seem to be a lot a like." He sat back down and looked forward. Tanzenite thought he looked a little green.
"How so?" She asked.
"Well, you both eat, you're both really nice, and you're both mysterious." She smiled.
"Oh yeah?" She could see Connie looking at him and smiling. She wondered if they liked each other, more than friends.
"Yeah! Mmm.." he groaned and rolled down his window.

As they drove further and further from Beach City, Tanzenite felt her eyes falling closed. She was actually getting tired. She couldn't remember she felt this relaxed. She slipped into a slumber she hadn't experienced in a long time.

She opened her eyes and she woke up to a dark sky. She sat up and looked around to see Jasper laying by her. She gasped and stood up. Her vision was foggy. She shook her head. She got up to leave the area, but was quickly grabbed by the hand.
"Don't leave..." she didn't want to turn around. She knew what she'd see, she knew what she'd hear. She'd heard it all before. Her chest felt heavy. She couldn't stop herself. She turned back.
Jasper was sitting up now, holding onto her tiny wrist tightly. Her expression looked desperate.
"I have to, it's the only way you'll be safe!" Her shout was muffled.
"I have to." Is all that made it through.
"Tanzenite please you'll die!" She pleaded. Tanzenite wanted to cry. This dream, this memory. She ripped from Jasper's grasp and ran. She felt like she was running through molasses. She reached out to a light. Suddenly, a door. She threw the door open and crashed to the ground. She looked up to see a plume of pink hair, and a large sword. She was pointed at something. She turned and saw her. Glaring, she moved to attack her. Tanzenite threw up her arms and screamed. White. Her eyes are open again. She sees three god like beings hovering behind thousands of other Gems all shouting and pointing at her. "She did it!" "It was her!"
Behind the crowed she could see the heartbroken face of Jasper. Those eyes. The hurt. She wanted to run after her, explain that it wasn't her fault, that it wasn't her. Out of everyone, She had to know.
Just before reaching her, she turned and gave her the same face as the one who truly did it, a look of murder. A look of fear. Tanzenite felt something in her chest. A crack, death, she wanted to die. She'd failed. Failed to protect her Jasper, failed to protect.... to protect.... Someone.
"No matter what, right?"
"No matter what."

"What?"
A voice startled her awake. Her eyes opened and it felt like broken glass. She looked around and saw that Stevem, Greg, and Connie were all looking at her concerned.
"I..."
"You okay," Greg said. All Tanzenite really did was look around. She wanted to say, "I'm okay." But the words just wouldn't come out of her mouth. Instead what came out was' "i vous échoué"
They all stared at her longer. She blinked and shook her head.
"My apologies, I, had a crazy dream." With that, Steven was off, she felt like it was to take her mind off of what lever she did in her sleep, but, it was difficult to listen.
"Amethyst sleeps all the time...!" And so on, and so forth. She'd tune in occasionally and peice together what he was talking about. But her thoughts were still in her dream.
Who was that?
Why was she so angry? No, scared.
Who...?
"Tanzenite?" Connie asked.
"Whoever she was.... she was someone special." She smiled and started paying attention to Steven again.
