Despite her worries, Jasper ordered Tanzenite to stay behind and watch the other monster's while she took their most recent catch to train. Tanzenite had no choice and agreed to stay behind with a simple, "be safe," as she left with a wave.
As soon as she was gone, Tanzenite began making her rounds to all of the pens. She could recognize the gems of a few types and would treat them warmly. The ones she didn't recognize, she greeted with quiet hostility. It all depended how she felt when she approached each gem.
The cages where the new gem monster's previously were, still made her feel sick.
Do gem even get sick? She thought, staring at the pen. She'd never heard of it before, but this feeling seemed very akin to what she'd read about human illnesses. The flu, or something like it. The longer she stared at the makeshift pen the worse she felt. She forced herself to look away and busied herself with other tasks. She even thought sitting in her old hole would help, but it just made her head hurt. Frustrated, she slammed her fist against the wall, gritting her teeth. Why did sh feel this way now? She had everything she could ever want. She had her Jasper, she had the Earth, she had her freedom, so why was she feeling like everything was wrong?
Her mind jumped around and her thoughts made her want to scream. She stood up sharply and jumped away from the Beta Kindergarten. Her eyes were watering, but she had no memory of crying. Her stomach was in knots, she just wanted Jasper to come back. She closed her eyes and felt a pang spring through her head. She buried her forehead into the sand as a voice flooded her mind, it was loud a dominant sounding, but motherly. Tanzenite let out a shout as her mind flashed white at remembering the first orders she ever received.
"When this Quartz emerges, you will behers, you will follow ever order, every command... do you understand Tanzenite!?" The voice was familiar but she knew she'd never heard it. Her memory self looked up and nodded. Who was this gem? She was beautiful though, white and full of calm confidence. "Yes, my diamond." The voice was not hers. "No, not 'my diamond' you do not follow me or the others, you follow the commands of your quartz, only she is your authority" Her mind self nodded again and sat in front of a section of wall where l, no doubt her quartz would emerge.
"Anytime my perfect Quartz"

The light faded and Tanzenite's vision started to clear. What was that? Who was that? She felt she knew the answer when suddenly;
"TENZENITE!?" Her eyes widened and she looked up to find Jasper running over to her. She was soaked to the bone with sea water and she wondered what happened, and how much time had passed since she left.
"Tanzy, you okay?" Jasper's voice was full of concern as she scooped her up in her arms. Tanzenite still felt sick, but there was something else weighing her mind down. Something big.
"Jasper... who am I?"
