It was a few days after Tanzenite had surrendered to the Crystal Gems, she had slowly been getting used to Steven and his... Steveny ways, and everyone seemed, all in all, to be getting used to having her around.
Tanzenite was sitting outside, watching Steven and Amethyst goofing around in the Ocean when the sound of a large car driving up startled her. She spun around and got low to the ground and hid.
"Daaad! Conniiieee!" She heard Steven yell.
Dad she looked from behind her small sand dune.
A rounder man appeared from withing the strikingly colored van and hugged Steven.
"Hey there shtewball, ya ready for a weekend of fun in the sun?!" He said enthusiastically.
"Hecks yeah!"
"I'm just happy my parents are okay with it, I mean, a long vacation, in a van, with little to no supervision." The little girl stared off into space with a cute little smile on her face. Steven and the man he called dad exchanged looks and laughed.
"There's nothing to worry about, I rented a little bungalow so we won't be staying in the van." The little girl looks happy at this news but seemed to be playing it off like it wasn't a big deal. Tanzenite peeked her head out from behind the small hill, she wanted to meet these new people. She made a half hearted wave to Steven, who saw and excitedly jumped and ran over after making several excited gestures and pointing in her direction. She considered just leaving it alone, but no, all of them were heading over to her.
she gave a nervous smile and kept her hand up in a wave. She'd interacted with humans before, but for some reason this was making her nervous.
"Hey! Tanzenite, this is Connie, and this is my dad, Greg." He pointed to each person.
Greg was, a nice looking human. She had heard of him. Seen him before in the town through the years, but never really spoke to him. Connie looked sweet. She had long brown hair and darker skin than Steven. Tanzenite thought this made her very pretty, yes indeed. She looked nervous to look at her and to see her. She wondered why. She extended her hand to her.
"Hello, Connie." She smiled sweetly to her. Connie smiled back and shoot her hand.
"Connie Mehashwaren, nice to meet you, Tanzenite." So polite. She turned to Greg and offered him a handshake. Greg smiled and shook her hand.
"Hey, it's nice meeting a new Gem who understands handshakes and doesn't try to push me off of a roof." Tanzenite looked shocked.
"Oh my are you okay!?" Greg chuckled.
"Yeah ,yeah no worries Garnet was there to catch me." Tanzenite let out a sigh if relief.
"That's good. Garnet's always where you need her isn't she?" She smiled.
"Hey Tanzenite, we're going to go down the coast for a little fun in the sun, would you wanna come along?" Tanzenite blinked and smiled.
"SURE! I mean, if everyone okay with it?" She looked at Connie and Greg, who tapped Steven on the shoulder. They walked away and spoke for a while, then returned smiling.
"We'd love to have you Tanzenite!" Greg said. She smiled excitedly and hugged them all.
"Thank you! I'll be sure to remember this!"They all packed beach essentials and some snacks for the road and got into the car.
"Are you ready Tanzenite? I must warn you though, my dad and I get..." he paused and looked seriously off into the distance.
"Vacafun." Tanzenite looked at him smiling her sideways smile and pat his head.
"I can't wait to spend time with you steven, you have no idea how long I've wanted to." Steven's cheeks turned red as he hopped in the car and buckled up, smiling like a child, in wait for her upcoming journey.
