"Uuuuuuh" was the only response that emitted from Steven once the Gems returned to the Temple with wide, unsure, smiles.
"Steven, this is.... uuh" Pearl started, looking nervous.
"Tanzenite." She walked forward and extended her hand.
"Nice to meet you... it's Steven right?" He kinda smiled and shook her hand.
"Yes, actually, how'd you figure?" He said scratching the back of his head and balancing on one foot.
"Heh, I uh, knew your mom. Nice Gem, by the way." She pointed to his gem on his stomach and made a goofy half grin in an attempt to look non threatening. Steven looked down at his Gem and looked away all bashful.
"Aw, gee, thanks." Tanzenite let out an internal sigh of relief.
"Alright now that you two have met we need to interrogate her." Steven and Tanzenite spun around.
"What!?" They both shouted.
"Why!? She seems so nice!" Steven exclaimed jumping in front of Tanzenite; who looked very uncomfortable with it. She leaned down and out a hand hovering over his shoulder.
"No, Steven, it's fine." She said in attempt to calm him down. She smiled as casually as she could muster.
Steven just looked sad. Up at her. Tanzenite stood up and followed Garnet and Pearl into the temple. Amethyst stayed behind, obviously to distract Steven."Alright, Tanzenite, tell us what you know." Pearl said acting tough. Tanzenite blinked a couple times and looked between the two of them.
"Uh... specifics would be nice."
"Ugh! About Homeworld! How did you get here! Who sent you!?" Pearl was acting frantic.
"Pearl, calm down." Garnet stated coolly.
"I'm as calm as I possibly can be in this situation." She replied.
Tanzenite just watched the two of them bicker with curiosity growing in her heart.
"Well." She interrupted before her thoughts got the better of her. They both returned back to her and each of their gazes met.
"What I can say, is this; I was made here on Earth, I once fought against the rebellion, but don't any longer, I have no idea how I got here, nor do I remember how. I just know how I've lived for the last 4500 years. The war, who I fought with, who I fought for, and in the end, here I am, watching you two bicker like an old married couple." Pearl's cheeks turned blue with blush, and Garnet looked slightly disgruntled by her mocking them. To which Tanzenite smirked in response.
"Really I surrendered because I knew I was safer with you and Steven, I worked for Rose Quartz a long time ago for a while after the war.... guess she never mentioned me" she spat out. Pearls gaze suddenly turned venomous.
"What did you say?" She said trying to make herself look taller than she was.
Tanzenite looked up at her with Bright pink eyes.
"I am just telling you what I know. And how I've lived. Trust me, I don't know more about Rode than you do, obviously, but I know what I did, and it cannot be undone." Tanzenite closed her eyes.
"-matter what." She heard Jasper's voice again. It thudded loud in her head. She felt like her head was going to explode with the words. She shouted and clenched her head.
"What's happening!? Garnet!"
"I don't know!" The voices were muffled underneath the loudness of Jasper's words. She wanted to escape, to run. She felt an enormous pressure on her body and she let out an strangled yell. Then a gasp. She opened her eyes and saw Garnet looking at her with her actual eyes. She looked worried. Pearl was in the background looking confused and alarmed.
Garnet reached out and was about to touch Tanzenite's skin. When she shied away from her touch.
"I'm sorry... sometimes that happens." Garnet gave her a sympathetic gaze.
"You belonged to someone?"
Tanzenite nodded.
"I see, that explains a lot actually." Pearl walked over and looked at Tanzenite.
"Who did you belong to?" Her voice sounded strangely regal, yet also filled with concern.
"That is something I cannot tell you. Forgive me, it's my own preference, maybe once you trust me..."
"That settles it." Garnet said suddenly. Pearl and Tanzenite looked at her.
"She can stay with us for a while."Tanzenite was silent for a few moments. Then her eyes grew wide and she stood up with a beaming smile with stars on her eys.
"I can stay here!? Really!?" Garnet smiled a little and nodded.
"Thank you! I promise I'll do whatever you want! You won't regret this!" She was practically jumping with excitement. Pearl found it amusing. They emerged from the Temple door and found Amethyst and Steven playing a game of what looked like, how many things can Amethyst turn into, it the living room. Steven saw them and ran over to Garnet and Pearl.
"Is she good?!" He said excitedly.
Garnet nodded.with a smile as Steven ran over to Tanzenite. She knelt down to receive him but stopped him just short so they didn't touch.
"I wanna see what game you guys are playing over there." Steven walked quickly in front of her over to Amethyst and they started asking questions about what she knew she couldn't transform into.Pearl looked up at Garnet.
"Will she really be okay?" Garnet looked ahead and saw her smiling and laughing.
"Shell be fine, as long as whoever owns her doesn't return."
