Evangeline P.O.V.
"Oh thank God, Eva. You're awake!" Jenna's voice was loud in my ears and I could practically feel the relief flooding in her voice. Stirring from my comfy slumber, I squinted at my surroundings unable to remember where I was. Where was I?
"Jenna?" I mumbled, rubbing my head. "Eva!" She wraps me in a tight hug, startling me awake. "Where am I?" I swallowed looking around. "Home, you're home. Safe and sound where I will never let you go out again." She smiles but behind that I knew she was not joking.
"Home? Wasn't I at the forest? How did I end up here?" I question sitting up. "Easy Eva, you hit your head pretty bad..." Jenna stops me. Hit my head? "I feel fine Aunt Jenna, just a little weird ed out, right now." I assures her, patting her shoulder.
"Yeah well, when you tried to find Elena at the forest with Stefan you couldn't find her and you apparently thought it was a great idea to split up, thus you falling over a steep hill and hitting your head." Jenna explained. Splitting up? I never suggested that. What on earth is going on?
"Well I'm cooking pancakes if you're feeling better, come downstairs and join us." Jenna stands up and looks at me up and down before finally deciding it was alright to leave me alone. Once I was alone in my room, I got up and walked towards the mirror.
I touched my smooth white face and checked for any scratches. Flawless, my skin was flawless. How was that possible?
Red eyes, running through the forest screaming Elena.
I stumbled back, nearly falling over as a headache pondered my mind. It was like bits and pieces of memory fragments of what happened last night.
Blood, bodies, torn apart, Elena was safe. We ran
memories flooded my head.
I fell over a hill... A shadow. The shadow, a man. He wanted to kill me. I killed him first... and then, darkness...
Straightening myself, I once more plucked enough courage to look at myself in the mirror. I lifted my palm, there was no blood, I looked at my neck, there was no wound. There was not scratch or bruise over my entire body!
What the hell was going on? Did I dream it all? That's impossible! I fell over the hill! I pushed Elena out the way! A vampire was chasing us! What the hell is happening to me?
"From your look of confusion, I could say I'm not alone in this mess..."
"Stefan!" I yelled, running forward and hugging him tightly. He wrapped his arms around me, breathing in my scent. "God, I was so worried..." He mumbled. "What happened?" I demanded breaking away and walking towards the door, slamming it shut. "Eva, about last night... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to lose control. Its just... the scent of blood makes my cravings get stronger!" He sighs rubbing his eyes.
"Its alright Stefan I understand, but I would appreciate it if you recap me on what happened last night." I said, folding my hands and sitting on the bed. Stefan nodded and join me on the bed, wrapping one hand around my waist.
"After I smelt the blood, I knew I had to get away from you. But I could hear Elena's voice, sobbing. I couldn't control my hunger so I fled away from you directing you to where your sister was..." He explained.
"I found her, but her friends were dead. She was the only one left untouched." I said, looking over. Stefan frowns at me, eyes going unfocused. "Their necks were ripped apart, like someone just started killing them. It was a vampire Stefan. Another vampire. So I took Elena's hand and ran."
"I went back to where I smelt the blood once I was calm enough. I smelt your scent and Eva's. I could also detect that there was another vampire. So I panicked, I searched across the forest, calling your name, you didn't answer." He said, his brown eyes bore into mine as he said his part.
I slowly shook my head trying to figure out the rest of the fuzzy memories. "We stopped at a hill..." I began looking down. "There was a vampire chasing after us so I gave Elena my necklace. The one you gave me so vampire compulsion won't work on her. Then there was a shadow... behind Elena, I pushed her away and I fell down the hill." I stood up, looking at myself in the mirror once more.
"Stefan, I had bruises, scratches and deep wounds, but their all gone!" I yelled, looking around my body frantically. "Eva, what happened to the vampire? The one that fell down with you?" Stefan stood up. "I killed him.." I whispered, covering my mouth. "I killed him, he was going to kill me so I pushed a sharp wooden branch in his heart..." I shook my head repeatedly, shock at what I did.
"Eva, when I got there. There was no vampire. Only blood on the ground and you weren't even bleeding. But your clothes were filled with blood." Stefan says making me look up at him. "Stefan, I had internal bleeding, there was blood, coming out of my mouth!" I walked away from him, placing a hand to my forehead.
"I... I was dying..." I finally managed to say. "What?" Stefan grabbed my hand, forcing me to look at him. "I was dying Stefan, I closed my eyes and fell asleep. There was no one there. And when I woke up, I was back in my bed." I said, watching as his breathing quicken.
"How is that possible? If you were dying then how did you heal?" He questions himself. "Unless there was another vampire that night. Another vampire that dragged the vampire I killed and healed me?" I say.
Stefan's eyes widen as he begin pacing the room. "This is bad... this is very bad..." He mumbles. "Stefan, why did the other unknown vampire healed me? There must be some sort of connection." I stopped his pacing, grabbing his hand.
"I don't know Eva... But if you were to die that night..." He trails, looking away. "I'm here... And I'm not going anywhere..." I place my hand on his cheek. He grips my hand bringing it to his lips. "Eva, I'm just glad you didn't get hurt." He kisses my hand. Smiling, I gripped his hand tighter and shrugs.
"Well, what can I say? I have a thing for surviving in life and death situations." I laughed. "Eva, if you said you gave Elena the necklace... How is it back on your neck?" Stefan suddenly observed. Releasing his hand I placed a hand on my neck and sure enough the necklace was there.
"Elena, did she gave it back?" I question. Stefan shrugs, not really knowing the answer. "Wait, what about Elena's friends? We need to tell someone about them! And Elena... Wheres Elena?" I breath running out the room. Stefan grabs my hand abruptly stopping me.
"Eva... Elena's story is completely different..." Stefan begins. "What?" I asked confused. "This is why I came up here to ask if you got the same side of the story..." Stefan confessed. "Well, what is her side of the story?" I demanded.
"Her friends were attacked by a wild animal and she escaped just in time only to find you. So the both of you ran but the animal caught up with you and pushed you down the hill. Elena says she ran to call for help." Stefan finished.
"But that's wrong! I was there! And it sure as hell not an animal attack!" I yelled.
"Eva, don't you see? The other vampire that you think healed you... Must've taken off the necklace you gave Elena and made her forget whatever happened that night. He or she put the necklace back on your neck and left, dragging the vampire you killed away from the scene. Because I found you leaning on a tree not moving but breathing." Stefan explained the entire story in one breath.
"But that would mean..."
"Yes, the vampire watch the entire thing unfold and rescued you. So its either a damn good kind heart-ed vampire that happened to pass by or someone I know that wants to make you-the person I love- suffer first. But I think we both know what the answer is..."
