"Hey, I know its only been 12 hours but you know how I get worried Stefan." I sighed, leaning against my school locker, phone on my ear. "I know Eva, I get worried too. If it makes you feel any better, I was just about to call you." Stefan's chuckled through the phone. I smiled shyly to myself, looking at students passing by to and fro, minding their own business.

At the corner of my eye, Bonnie waves and proceeded to make her way towards me. "Stefan, just be safe alright?" I said, looking away from Bonnie, pointing at my phone and mouthing Stefan to her. She nods slyly and leaned against the other locker beside me as she waits for me to hang up.

"Always am, its you that should be safe." Stefan's voice filled with concern. "I'm fine, just come home in one piece, how long will you take anyway?" I looked over at Bonnie who was making kissy faces at me. I grinned at her, hitting her arm lightly.

"Might be a day or two, I got a lead on this Witch ritual thing." Stefan explained. "Well alright, call me if anything changes." I could feel Stefan's smile growing the other side as his reply came fast. "See you soon," He says before hanging up. Finally putting down the phone, Bonnie was giving me this amused look. "What?" I asked.

"That took forever," She scoffs, falsely yawning. "Hey, Stefan's basically going on a suicide mission." I shoved her. She nods, her brown curls bouncing to her face.  "I know Eva, speaking of which, is there anything new?" She asked, looping my hand with hers as the both of us began walking back to class. Students surround the hallways.

Filling it with chatter and providing us the cover we needed to talk. "Stefan's got a lead." I said. "I hope it'll at least lead us to an explanation rather then a dead body like the last time." Bonnie frowns at me. "Bonnie, You can't blame Stefan for his lack of timing. Someone must've covered their tracks." I said.

"I believe you Eva, but I can't stand and wait for something bad to happen in Mystic Falls." Bonnie shivers lightly, and looks down. "Hey, that's what we're here for," I laughed, twirling her around. She rolls her eyes playfully but does it anyways. "On a more serious note Eva. What did that Witch really mean that night? Why did they had so desperately tried to protect that they had even murdered their own kind for it?" Bonnie asked.

I shrugged, helplessly. "I don't know Bonnie. But Stefan said they kept saying, 'She must be protected' when they were doing a ritual to kill all Vampire's in Mystic Falls." I said. "She must be protected? What the hell type of chant is that?" Bonnie frowns, walking slowly with me. "I don't think its a chant. I think it was like their mantra or something to protect their so called ancestors." I raised my arms and did a little sweep motion.

"Was it so bad that they wanted to kill people in this town too?" Bonnie asked. "I honestly don't know Bonnie. That's why we're here, protecting the town." I nod my head to her and she sighs. "Lets not forget your cool ass witchy powers." I nudged her smiling. She shakes her head at me and laughs.

"It's amazing, Eva." We stop in the middle of the hallways just outside our class, students still all around us. She lifts up her right palm and opens and close it. "Everything my Grams said. It all real. I can feel the power of the earth around us... the growing of life... its breath taking," She mumbled, tracing her palm a look of awe in her face.

I smiled widely at my best friend, wrapping at arm around her shoulder. "Well Bonnie," I said, walking in the front door. "I'm glad you're happy,"

"Oh my God guys!" Caroline abruptly jumps us from in front. "What's wrong?!" I demanded letting go of Bonnie and looking over at Caroline's shock face. "There's a new teacher in town!"
She squeal, dragging us to our seats. A new teacher? Of course! All those who were in the way when the Witches were in town either got injured or killed. In this case Mr tanner was one of the teachers that got killed.

"A new teacher? Aren't we like a little too young for that?" Bonnie scoffs playfully.

I set my bag down unable to hide my smile and Caroline's laugh. "Doesn't mean we can't stop gawking!" She laughs. "So, what's he look like?" I asked, cupping my chin with my hands. "I don't know yet," She confesses. "Caroline, how can you be so sure then?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Because I have a feeling Evangeline!" Caroline groans, shaking her head at me. I shook my own head shooting a look at Bonnie for help. She shrugs at me as well. "Let's not get our hopes up to high ladies, we might get another replica of Mr Tanner," I giggled, ignoring my surroundings.

What I didn't notice was that everybody had seated and the bell had rung. "Good morning Class." A new voice called out from the front of the class. I glance upwards towards the person. The new teacher back was to me as he wrote on the blackboard with a white chalk. I squinted once more and this new teacher.

I couldn't see his face. Bonnie and I exchanged looks knowing that we'll have to be careful around this guy. He might be bad news. "My name is Alaric, Saltzman." The teacher turned around. He was handsome I must say, but far to old for me. He had blond hair, and a body structure that signals he has been working out.

"Saltzman is a mouthful, believe me," He jokes looking across the class who laughs lightly at his joke. "But you can call me Alaric. And I will be your teacher for the rest of the semester." His eyes landed on mine and he gave me a genuine smile before moving past me. "Any questions?" He asked the class.

Almost all hands went up. I looked over at Bonnie and she shrugged like she didn't know. Maybe Alaric wasn't a bad person. But like they say, the enemy always waits for a moment to strike.

Okay, I finally decided that since VD is going to be over soon, this book will be a tribute to them. I will continue this book until the ending I had planned out which could take till the end of the year. It doesn't matter if VD is over. What matters is that all those feelings and emotions I have felt for them during these last couple of years need to be brought to reality. And I honestly don't care if nobody reads this after the series ends. So as long as I post it and it will forever be online, where people can read it.
