//Tess's POV

As I followed Carl around Alexandria, I wondered why he wouldn't cut his hair since he is now in a safe, secure place. I kinda liked it long but whatever.

Finally, we came to an acre that was obviously meant for farming.

As Carl got gloves on, I commented, "Wow. It's really muddy here."

"Yeah," he confirmed, grabbing his shovel. "It rained last night."

I nodded before getting my own gloves started to work.

After around 5 minutes, I felt cold mud hit my ankle.

I looked up in shock to see Carl looking playfully guilty. Mud covered his hands.

I laughed a little. "Oh," I challenged. "You did not just do that."

He simply shrugged. "I'm not saying anything, T."

So that was how it was gonna be. I nodded before reaching down, scooping mud into my hand. "Okay," I complied. "Well, you know what, Grimes?"

I flung the mud at him, hitting him square in the neck.

He simply stood there for a moment in shock, before laughing a little.

I put my arms out slightly. "Whatcha gonna do?" I asked challenging him.

He looked down for a moment before walking towards me, putting his mud-covered hands out towards me.

Realizing what he was doing, I put my arm out. "No," I warned. He smiled devilishly before running towards me.

"No!" I squealed, running away.

He chased me for a bit before finally catching up to me and wrapping his arms around me from behind.

We broke down laughing but he didn't let me go.

//Enid's POV

I watched from kinda afar as Carl chased a strange girl around before catching her, wrapping his arms around her.

I looked down, my arms crossed. I didn't even know who this girl was and I was jealous.

Finally, I walked forward a little and called in a dull voice, "Carl!"

The two turned to look at me in surprise, though the smiles didn't leave their faces.

Internally rolling my eyes, I told him, "Gate watch, come on."

Obviously still recovering from chasing the girl, Carl laughed and replied, "Right, I forgot. One second, I'm coming."

The girl laughed and slightly elbowed him in the ribs, causing him to let go of her. "Asshole," she chuckled.

Carl laughed before running to catch up with me. "Don't mess up too badly while I'm gone," he called to her.

"Uh huh," she replied, her voice playfully sarcastic.

Finally, Carl caught up and fell in step with me.

//Carl's POV

"Who's that?" Enid asked, refusing to look at me.

After deciding to be honest with her, I answered, "Uh, that's Tess. She was the one who saved us."

She nodded, obviously not happy with my answer. Still not looking up at me, she said, "She's our age and gorgeous. No wonder you didn't want to tell me about her."

I chuckled a little. "Why? Are you jealous?"

Enid suddenly stopped walking. I stopped as well in confusion.

Finally, she looked up at me. I swear, if looks could kill you, I would've been in the ground. Her look read "Did you seriously just say that to me?".

After a few moments, she quickly started walking again.

"Enid, it was a joke!" I yelled. "Enid!"

She didn't acknowledge me.

I sighed and ran to catch up to her.
