//Tess's POV
After the meeting, Carl and I decided to take a walk around Alexandria.
"I hope we don't do anything to make him mad," Carl said, referring to Negan. "We can't fight against that amount of weapons."
"You don't have as many as them?" I asked. I knew it was a stupid question, but whatever.
"Not even a fraction," he confirmed.
"Can I see?" I asked, a little nervous.
He nodded and led me to a house.
He knocked on the door and, a moment later, a heavy set woman opened the door. Her dark hair was in a ponytail and she had reading glasses on.
"Hey, Olivia," Carl greeted.
Olivia gave me a curious look.
"This is Tess," he introduced. "She's a friend of mine. Can we get to the armory?"
Olivia nodded and let us in.
Carl opened the door to the room for me and I walked in, observing my surroundings.
Guns and knives lined walls and covered tables, but that wasn't much considering it was a small room.
Carl was right. They were in absolutely no shape to get in a fight with Negan.
Negan. He wanted to know how many weapons Alexandria had. I needed to tell him...
"Well," Carl sighed, coming up behind me. "Yeah, it isn't much, but we've been okay for the most part."
I turned my head slightly and nodded, still in a slight daze.
"I better get going," I told him.
Seeming disappointed but understanding, Carl turned to the door to make sure it was closed before leaning into kiss me.
I kissed back, fighting the urge to push him away in guilt.
"We meeting tomorrow?" he asked.
"Um," I murmured. "Negan's forcing me to meet with him again. I can meet you in two days, though."
I could see his face fall slightly.
"I'm sorry," I said sincerely. "I wish I didn't have to keep seeing him, but I can't risk making him mad."
Carl nodded. "Want me to walk you to the gate?" he asked.
"Didn't you mention that you had gate watch?" I reminded him.
"I'm sure it'll be okay if I'm a little late," he assured.
"No," I insisted. "Go, I don't want you to get in trouble. I'll be fine."
After a moment of hesitation, he nodded, kissed me one more time, and headed out.
I sighed and took my time walking out of the armory.
////////////////////////////////////
I was heading towards the gate when I saw someone sitting on a bench by the lake.
Enid.
She had rid herself of the polo player, and was simply sitting there, cleaning her gun with a solemn look on her face.
I considered going up to her, trying to find a common ground, yet I disappointed myself by continuing walking.
When I finally exited Alexandria, I got on my motorcycle and started it up.
I would meet with Negan tomorrow. But right now, I needed to clear my mind of everything.
I pressed the gas pedal and headed home.
