A Voice Unheard - Part II: Poetry

Say Hello

Say hello, and I'll know it'll end in a strained goodbye,

Tell me you love me and I'll just stand there and cry,

Your words are baseless, for in the end it'll amount to naught,

And I'll be left behind, eradicated from thought,

Don't make those promises you know you cant keep,

Restrain yourself from opening me up and making me believe,

Sing me no songs of world where I belong,

And don't pretend like you care for I'd know such allegations are wrong,

I cant deal with another circle of doom and despair,

Where we begin with love and end God knows where,

I cant deal with a another bout of critical remarks regarding me,

Or any more pointers on how I should be,

Who would know better than I that I am flawed beyond saving,

If you cant understand that, then at least refrain from inaccurate judging,

I feel like a criminal on the stand defending her dignity,

In a feeble attempt to explain why she is such an oddity,

The way I see it, what separates us is confidence,

You can hide your flaws and lie about them with great prowess,

Whereas mine are open for one and for all,

So every time there is an audience unkind to watch me as I fall,

You are so sure of yourself that you project only that which you want,

And so the flaws remain hidden; oh what a front!

I shall learn this art of deceptive living,

Where the truth remains within; it will leave you wondering,

What is really going on in my mind,

The world will never again see the real me,

For the real me, is not something one likes to see,

Leave me in peace... my misery shall not be known,

To you I wont sing that sad tune,

I am turning a leaf, for it is time to change myself,

And for the first time in my life I truly love myself,

Leave me be... if you cant listen sans judgement,

I'll survive life and get through its many impediments,

So... Say hello, and I'll know it'll end in a strained goodbye,

This begs the question, why bother to even try?
