Disappointing

She has no peace, no calm,

Things are always happening in her life,

There is never a dull moment,

She cannot think back upon a time she would like to go back,

Reminiscing is pointless, for all it brings back is the pain of a lifetime of hate,

So much negativity circling around her head,

Waiting, hoping that she drops dead,

Like eager vultures, bad things circle around waiting for a moment of weakness,

To prey and eat her soul,

She fights on, without much help,

Save a few who try to understand,

But as it always is, one can never truly understand unless they have been in the same place,

And there are very few who have,

It's like a lonely war, fought in her head,

Everything is a struggle, everything hurts,

And as time wears on it only becomes heavier - her heart and her head,

She carries the burden of a person beyond her age,

Maybe she does not deal with all of it with much dignity,

Heaven knows how much she cries and screams inside,

But she deals with it, better than most humans do,

Without a bottle or a pill to give her any kind of high,

She trundles forward with nothing but a dream and a hope,

That someday soon her life will end,

And that along the way she has a few good memories,

Few things are worth mentioning in her life,

Even fewer are the people who are praiseworthy,

Because no one understands,

Why would they want to? Why should they?

It's not their life, it's hers,

Why should anyone at all lend a helping hand?

She wont give up that much is true,

But she wont pretend either,

She's not one to waste her time on temporary things like happiness and sorrow,

She lives, nothing more,

For happy or sad, it's all just a state of mind,

The same thing can make one person sad and another happy,

So none of it matters,

The only thing that matters to her is her mind,

Enriching it, enlivening it with all the knowledge in the world,

Who cares if she is branded a bookish nerd?

She seeks the comfort the knowledge brings,

Because only it can help her move forward in this war called life,

All she wanted was a friend, a special person to stand by her,

And life couldn't give her even that,

So now she stays firmly on the path of knowledge and discovery,

In a hope to deal with a sorry life.
