To Feel Safe

There is a beautiful little clearing in a forest outside of town,

Watching the trees and listening to the winds, I'm there now,

It's the place I come whenever I feel alone,

A place away from civilization, completely unknown,

I come here when everything fails,

I come here to feel better, to feel safe.

Some mornings are almost unbearable for me,

To feel better after them, my clearing is all I have to see,

Here I am again today bawling my eyes out,

Crying tears from deep within me that constantly threatened to burst out.

To let go of these tears because of your harsh words today,

I came here to feel better, to feel safe.

We argued for hours last night,

My friend and I, it was a long fight,

So sick of the same thing happening again,

One more of it and I'll go insane,

I ran to my meadow and its sweet scented flowers; to my place,

I came here to feel better, to feel safe.

So many things you didn't say and so many more you didn't do,

As usual you forget me, so what's new?

Left alone in my own thoughts as usual,

Avoided, shunted...this treatment is so brutal,

So I go to safety to my darling place,

I come here to feel better, to feel safe.
