Diamond in the Rough

See the girl, crying in her room all alone,

No one can see her wail kick scream and moan,

She has it all in her just waiting to show,

But the more afraid she gets; the more silent she is, the world will never know,

They'll never know her story her beauty,

And all their judgements will be on her past history,

Truly a sad way to go,

Going through life completely unknown,

If only she wasn't so invisible, if only she had more luck,

Then the world could see she is a diamond in the rough.

See that boy with his intelligence galore,

But that's not all he is, there is so much more,

Under those thoughts so perfect, behind that smile so fine,

There is soul inside, weeping and dying, just towing some societal line,

He's confined to his place so low,

Even so, his face hasn't lost its youthful curious glow,

Bearing it all with a stoic nature,

Inside it's eating him up; the worry of his future,

If only the world wasn't selectively blind or deaf, it knows know love,

Sure enough if there was a chance, he'd truly be discovered... A diamond in the rough.

It's people like this whom you rarely see,

They fade away into the shadows; an age old story,

If only the world wasn't so self-serving,

If only it could accept with arms so welcoming,

Sadly that isn't the reality,

And life could never be that easy,

Truly tragic how so many have never seen love,

Cause they have perpetually been hidden unwanted Diamonds in the rough.
