Chapter 11 (Ebony)

I swear this ain't my Arod. For the past two weeks he's been showering me with attention, gifts, and flowers. Now I'm sitting at his cafeteria table. I'm happy to be sitting with my man. I'm basking in my new found popularity and enjoying his company.

I even found out that he has a big game coming up with a college recruiter coming I look at him and I see a NBA star. I can hear fans screaming his name and everything. I smile at him periodically, and he'll grab my hand under the table.

I roll my eyes at the haters. I felt like a celebrity couple. "Hey Ebony," Arod begins lowering his voice so that I can only hear him. "There's cheerleading tryouts tomorrow after school, maybe you could try out. We can spend more time together." I look at him like fool-are-you-kidding-me. Cheerleading just never crossed my mind. "Umm, I don't think cheerleading is my thang." I tell him. "I think you should try out Ebony." this time he said with a little roughness. I saw something in his eyes. It reminded me of the old Arod for a moment. "Okay I'll give it a shot." I reluctantly agree. I've been spending so much time with Arod, I've barely seen Sherese or Ivory.

I know Sherese is mad with me, cuz she keep on giving me the stank face every time she sees me. I just don't know what's going on with Ivory. It's like she's here and there. She's running the streets like she's grown. I love that Arod wants to spend so much time with me, but I need alone time too. Plus, I still cant get Macarevhic's smile outta of my head.

I swear he's the only reason I like biology. The bell ring and the whole table gets up and throw our trays away. In the hallway I look for Sherese. I need to make things right with her, and I miss my best friend.

She's been in my life way longer than Arod has, and I would hate to lose her friendship. I spot here walking hand in hand with Malachi. She's obviously mad about something cuz she's rolling her neck and her mouth is moving a mile a minute. She stops when she sees me. I wave at her, and she rolls her eyes at me. I walk to them. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" I ask Sherese.

She sucks her teeth at me like I insulted her. "Oh so now you wanna talk to me. Ain't you to busy being Miss. popularity? I ain't go time for you, like you ain't go not time for me." she's says with attitude. "I'm sorry I've been neglecting you but I've been so busy." I tell her.

"Pleases don't be angry with me." Sherese sucks her teeth and roll her neck. "I ain't got time for this. You want to be my friend when you ready and it don't work like that." she snaps.

She starts to walk away but Malachi grabs her arm and pull her back. "Stop being like that babe and listen to what she got to say. This is your best friend and stop acting like you crazy. I'm gonna go to class and next time I see ya'll.......ya'll better be best friends again."

Malachi walks off. I whisper thank you to him as he pass me. Sheeree still got that stank look on her face, but it's only a matter of time before she forgives me. "Well you got my attention. Speak." she barks at me. "I'm really sorry , it's just that Arod keeps me so busy and he just wants to spend time with me a lot. I'm so sorry if I haven't spent time with you or if I ignored you. You're my best friend and I really miss you. Please forgive me." I say with the sad puppy dog face. The same face that works every time she gets mad at me. She lets out a sigh. That means she's giving in.

"Well girl you betta not ignore me like this again." I perk up and I hug her. "I love you best friend!" I tell her. She laughs. "Love ya too girl, now let me tell you what's been going on!"

We walk to class together, as she tells me the latest gossip. I unlock the door to the apartment, only to find it unlock already. I enter anyway thinking it's Ivory. I look around the apartment and I see syringes on the broken down coffee table and that only means one thing.
