I've been sitting in this waiting room for ever now. I know it's been three hours now. Mama is holding my hand and resting her head on my shoulder. I called Ebony and she should be here soon. I say another quick prayer for my Abulea. I know it got to be the hundred one so far.

I've been crying and thinking about my Abulea. She is one of the most important influences in my life. She understands me and she gives the best advice. I know she's old but I see a lot of life left in her. I pull up into the drive way all mad and stuff about Ebony, and I see her being carried out on the stretcher. My whole mood changed.

My heart felt as if it was going to burst out of my chest. It felt like my biggest nightmare was coming true. My mama runs over to me crying, and I hug her. "Oh, miel we got to get the hospital. Abulea just fainted out of nowhere. She's unconscious and the EMTs had a hard time finding her pulse."

Mama continued to tell the story as we got into my car and followed the ambulance. I was praying the whole way there. I see Ebony, Ruth, and Ivory waking down the hospital's hallway. They all look worried and wary. Ebony throws her arms around my neck and gives me a big hug. I hug her back. I don't know why, but I feel like I need her here with me. After our embrace Ebony greets mama. "Hello Ebony, nice to see you." she says tiredly, but also with a hint of attitude in her voice. "Would you like to get coffee?" Ruth suggests.

"Yes please. Macarevhic are you going to be alright by yourself?" mama asks. "Yeah I'll be alright." "Hey Macarevhic I'm sorry about your grand ma, I hope she'll be okay." says Ivory giving me a quick hug. "Thanks, I hope so too."

"Thanks for coming Ebony." "Boy please you know you don't have to thank me. I'm sure Abuela will be fine." She takes a seat in the waiting room chair. I can tell she's uncomfortable here. I take a seat by her and I take her hand. She smiles at me and kiss me on the cheek. Two hours later, Ruth and Ivory leaves, but Ebony stays out.

The only time she leaves is when she has to go to the bathroom. We listen to music, play games on her phone, and exchange jokes. This is the girl I love. This sweet caring girl. The doctor finally appears. Everybody jumps up from the chairs.

"Okay, are you the family of Amelia Santana?" The doctor asks, checking his clipboard. "Yes we are." mama answers. "Well, Ms. Santana is going to be okay, but we will have to keep her here for a couple of days to make sure she stays stable."

Those words take a huge weight off of my shoulders. I'm glad my Abuela pulled through. "Can we see her?" I ask. "Yes, but make it short so she can get some rest." We follow the doctor to Abulea's room. She connected to all kinds of IVs and tubes. But she smiles at us. Ebony stays close to me.

"Hi, everybody." Abulea greets. "Hey ma," mama says taking her hand. I take the other one." Hey Abulea. I need you to get better." I say. "I will." she says in a small voice. "How are you feeling ma?" mama asks. "I'm doing fine." When answers this time she does a dry cough.

She gestures to the cup. Mama gets her some water. For the first time I see Abulea old and vulnerable. That scares the heck out of me. I know she got some more years left in her. I can see it. At the end of the day it's up to God. "Ebony," Abuela calls.

I see her and I see something is her eyes. I see tears. She's tenser than when she got here. She walks up to the hospital bed closer, she takes Abulea's hands. "Sweet girl." abuela pats Ebony's hand gently. "The doctor walks in. "I'm sorry folks but you have to leave, but you can come back tomorrow." the doctors says. We all say good night.
