I woke up with a smile and with my thoughts going a million miles per second.
My parents and brother immediately noticed my giddy mood.
"You okay, Kars? You look happy!" Javi exclaimed with a shocked expression.
I rolled my eyes, and snapped back, "Ha-ha. Humor at my expense. Sibling love, much?"
"Just telling it as it is, sis," said Javi, "seriously, though. What's up with you?"
"Nothing, honestly. Just happy that we're learning about English today, that's all." He raised his eyebrows but let it drop. I knew that would keep his curiosity at bay for awhile, I loved English and he could never understand why.
I just really loved words and language. I found it interesting how we used to know multiple different languages, besides boring old English. It was a goal of mine, to learn another language, despite not having enough time or resources to actually follow through.
At our 6:00:00 meal, my parents seemed pleasantly happy. I figured it had something to do with my happiness, because I knew they were always worried about me.
Are you sure you're happy, Kara?
We just want to make sure you're making friends, Kara.
You know you can trust us with anything, Kara.
I loved my parents, honestly, but what they would mistake as sadness was just my personality. I was happy, or at least, happy enough. I did like myself. I had friends. Everything was okay.

For the first time in awhile, Cassi walked to school with me and Javi. Really just me, though. She didn't care much for my brother.
"Tell me everything," she immediately squealed when Javi and I met up with her.
"Everything about what?" My brother mused suspiciously. Cassi shot him a glare and then looked back at me impatiently.
I rolled my eyes, and realized that I really needed to stop making a habit of rolling my eyes. It wouldn't look good to Authorities.
"Nothing, and nothing," I shot at both of them.
They both started whining.
"C'mon!"
"I won't tell anyone!"
"You never tell me anything!"
"Kars, what happened?"
"Does this have something to do with how happy you are?"
"In fact, where were you last night?"
"Wait-- where have you been the past few nights?"
"Kars, can't you just tell me?"
"I have to know every detail!"
"Okay, stop," I declared. They both quieted. "Look, we're almost in BC, so even if I wanted to tell you anything, I couldn't. Talk to me after school, and maybe you'll get some insider info."
I was teasing them, and I knew it. I didn't care though, they were my two closest people, so they knew I would tell them anything-- almost anything.
