{Song of the chapter - Dance, Dance - Fall Out Boy}

Galaxies. Who knew being President was so hard? Although, I wasn't really President anymore.

I was a queen.

Being a queen had always been my goal from the time I learned what a queen actually was. I specifically remembered sitting in AC at eight years old and hearing my instructor, F. Febren, teach us about monarchy.

It sounded like a dream. A strong, independent woman being the face and head of an entire country. Although, there were often extra people like prime ministers, from what I recalled. But they didn't matter. It was all about the queen. 'Long live the queen'. 'God bless the queen'.

That type of power, that type of influence was exactly what I needed.

Also, I was in desperate need of a new name. With a new name comes a new image, and that was essential for my plans.

All things aside, Queen Nova just sounded... right. Like I was finally moving forward with my life.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when my comm beeped for nearly the googolplexianth time that day.

I suppressed a sigh, and slyly glanced at the comm. An overly enlivening picture of an Authority was showing up. With a roll of my eyes, I accepted the request to converse.

"What do you need?" I snapped with little patience for my guard.

I heard the guard take a trembling breath before saying, "One of your guards took my daughter and I just... Please, Your Highness, she didn't do anything wrong."

I pulled the comm away from my right ear and was quick to tap on the 'End Conversation' option. A small beep was heard, and there was silence once again in my room.

The silence didn't last long. A nervous knock on my door broke it.

"Come in," I called.

A familiar boy came fumbling into my room. I squinted my eyes at him and glared. "Why have you left your position at the receptionist's desk?"

His eyes widened in shock before shaking his head erratically at me. "I-I need to talk to you, Your Highness."

"Talk, then."

He advanced further into the room and closer to me. With a deep gulp, he stumbled out, "I, um, I--"

"Satellites above, just choke it out," I yelped with a strong roll of my eyes. It should be my signature thing, truly.

"I think I'm in love with you," he finally choked out in a single breath.

My face fell. Really? Are you kidding?

The air was silent for moments. I uselessly racked my brain for anything to respond with. A witty saying? A scolding? Snark? Ugh. See, this was a clear example of how it was hard to be Queen.

"You're not in love with me," I finally mused and turned my attention back to a gramlet in front of me.

He stepped closer to my desk and got down on his knees. "Please, just give me a chance to prove my love to you. Ever since you walked in on that day so many days ago--"

"It has literally been eight days."

"-- I knew you were something special. And then you become queen, and I just knew I had found my soulmate. Please, please, my queen. I know you're busy, but I will make a date worth our time!"

"A date?" I groaned and put my face in my hands. "No. No. Now, go back to your job before I dispose of you."

Obviously not frightened by my threats, he stepped closer to my desk and myself. And then, he had the nerve to take one of my hands in his, pulling it away from my face. "Just give me a chance," he whispered with hope heaving on his words.

As if struck by electricity, I pulled away from him with a jolt. "No," I snapped.

"You're missing out. I could be your soulmate, for all you know," he mumbled, but he took away his hands and stepped back.

"Say one more word and consider yourself dead. Also, I don't believe in soul mates," I said. He gave me a despairing look before shaking his head. Mutely, yet still dismally, he left the room.

My comm started beeping again, but this time I didn’t bother checking it. I already knew I wasn't going to accept.

My mind was still processing what had just happened. It was the perfect thing Cassi would love to have heard about. I bit my lip and squeezed my eyes shut. I can't think about her, I repeated in my head. Or him, for that matter. With a deep breath, I emptied my thoughts of anything but procession.

All the answers to my problems were now in front of me. Everything in such easy reach. Yet, I couldn't bring myself to threaten other Cities, or try to change laws. With a whole City to take care of, things suddenly felt safe and comfortable. There were no wars, no poverty. What had even been wrong in the first place?

My mind immediately flashed back to Lake's face, tear stained and red. He was talking about his sister. The one he hadn't seen in five years due to Authorities taking her away for 'public disturbance'.

Oh. Yeah. That's what's wrong.

I sighed. Without another second to waste, I pulled out my comm and composed a conversation with Presidents of the four other Cities in our Section.

Beep. President Deriti from the City of forest green and midnight black was on.

Beep. President Arisy from the City of sunshine yellow and baby blue was on.

Beep. President Greon from the City of velvet purple and blood red was on.

Beep. President Feriah from the City of denim blue and almond brown.

With nothing but shuffling noises, I pulled the comm up into a hologram. Confused faces of the four men stared back at me.

"Hello," I greeted with a simper.

Greon gruffed and shook his head. "What do you want, little girl?"

My smile fell. I narrowed my eyes while the three other hologramic faces were anticipating my reaction. I licked my lips and leaned forward towards the hologram. I snapped my fingers with my right hand and glared icily at them all.

"Men, this is the beginning of a war."
