Sam unlocks the apartment and tosses the keys onto a near by table then heads straight for the bedroom, plopping down and closing his eyes for a minute; or what he thought was a minute.
~
"Sambo. Sammy, wake up."
"Hm?"
"You fell asleep. Come on, we have reservations."
"We do?" He asks groggily and partially sits up. "I told you that I was planning out the weekend, didn't I?"
"Well..yeah."
"Alright. Now get up and get ready." Sam rubs the sleep away and blinks hard a few times, "I don't have any nice clothes."
"You have some in my top drawer that you've left here. I washed them."
"Where are we going?" The teen strips from his shirt and pulls out a white button up, with a shrug he begins putting it on. "It's a surprise, now hurry or we're gonna be late."
"Yes sir," Sam mumbles and fixes his hair quickly. "Samster, come on," Gabe laughs at his boyfriend and tugs him away from the mirror. "But–I just gotta–"
"There's a brush and a mirror in my car," he cuts in. "You're perfect, you know that?"
"Nope, but i'll take," he smiles.
~
"This place looks fancy," Sam comments as they make their way to the door. "It is."
"You know I would have been fine with a regular diner or something."
"I wanted to do something special, just let me do this, okay?"
"Okay," he sighs, "Can I at least help pay?"
"No."
"Gabe," Sam pouts. "Arg–Samsquatch, not the puppy dog eyes!"
"Please."
"I'll think about." Sam knows that's mostly likely still a no, but at this point there's not much he can do.
Gabriel slides his hand into Sams and locks their finger once inside. The lady behind the wooden podium smiles at the couple. "Reservation for Novak." She scans her list, then nods, "Right this way." Gabe raises his eyebrows at Sam as they're led through the dimly lit restaurant, making the taller boy laugh softly with a small eye role. "Here we are," the woman gestures to the booth. They each take a side and she sets the menus down, "Your waiter should be here in a minute."
The honey eyed boy can feel himself shaking from being so nervous. How hard is it to say 'I love you'? He scowls at himself. "You okay, babe?" Sam glances up from his menu, seeing the paled face of his boyfriend. He only nods with a silent gulp. Sam isn't to sure but doesn't wan't to make something out of nothing, so he reaches over the table and places his hand on top of Gabes shaking one and continues to look for something to eat.
"Hi, my names Brisa and i'll be your waitress today. Can I start you guys off with something to drink?"
"I'll just have a water," Sam smiles. "Um..me too."
"Alright, great. Do you still need a minute to look at the menu?"
"Yes, please," Sam says. She nods and heads back for their beverages. "You sure you're feeling alright? You just ordered water," he chuckles. "Well I was going to get wine but you cant have any so I decided to get water," Gabe defends. "They have more than wine and water."
"I know."
"Okay," the Winchester snickers. "Do you know what you want?"
"I was just thinking about the fruit sal–"
"Don't finish that sentence," Gabriel shakes his head, "You can get a salad anywhere. Anywhere. I'm begging you, get something else."
"Fine. The lobster casserole sounded good too, what are you getting?"
"Caribbean pepper pot with chicken and prawns." The teen raises a questioning eyebrow at the man sitting across from him. "What? The picture looks good," he shrugs.
~
"I don't like crab. I don't like crab. Sammy! I don't like crab! Knock it off!"
Sam laughs and sticks his tongue out, only for Gabe to copy him. With a toothy grin, Gabriel leans over the table to softly kiss Sam who gladly excepts and stares at him with the same loving eyes. "I'll take these, if you guys are done."
"We are," the Novak involuntarily averts his gaze from the greenish blue eyed male. "And will you be ordering desert today?"
"Yes we will," Gabriel says quickly, grabbing the small menu propped on their table before Sam can protest. "We'll take one piece of the marble cake."
"Alright, I'll be right out with that."
"I'm not eating any," Sam folds his arms aver his chest. "Yes you are," Gabe challenges.
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"Nope."
"Yup."
"No."
"Yes."
"I won't. I refuse."
"Sam, no."
"Gabe, yes—wait. Not fair!" Sam laughs, "You tricked me."
"Did I?" He smiles innocently and sees Brisa approaching with the cake.
"Here you are," she places it in the center of the table and gives them each a new fork. After she leaves, Gabe scoops some onto his fork and offers it to Sam, sticking out his bottom lip. Sam leans forward and takes the bite, hating that he likes it.
*
You didn't say it. You didn't tell him you love him. But I cant say it now, not in the car. Gabe glances over at Sam and sighs, it can't be that bad to tell someone you love them..right?
"What are you thinkin' about?"
"Would it be cheesy if I said 'you'?" He takes his eyes off the road for a second, seeing Sams eyes sparkle from the street light they pass. "Maybe a little."
"Come on," Gabe parks the car and waits for Sam to get out, "The nights not over yet."
