When Davina first arrived at the Stark Tower, she expected it to be like any other work day.
That was how Pepper said it'd be at least, saying she'd have nothing to worry about and Tony would be in his best behavior.
And for the most part, he was, but that didn't mean everyone else would be in their best behavior.
That's why when Sharon got a call about a disturbance needed to be handled by the Avengers, she knew she would be in for a ride.
She watched as Tony prepared himself to get on the jet to get to the others and she didn't think much about it until she saw Peter walk on the jet dressed in his suit.
She was quick to stop him, "What do you think you're doing?"
"I'm an honorary Avenger." Peter spoke proudly but Davina was quick to shake her head, stopping him once again before he could enter.
"Davina," he started but she shook her head again, placing a hand over his mouth and instead turning to Tony.
"You did this?"
Tony fought back the smile, "The kid is strong. He'll get through it."
Huffing, Peter removed Davina's hand from his face and frowned at Tony, "I'm not a kid anymore. I'm-"
"21 years old. Yeah we get it. Whatever. Let's go."
"No!" Davina quickly protested, turning to Peter once again, "You can't! You- does Mary Jane know about this?"
Peter's eyes grew wide at that, "No! Why would she?! What-"
"I'm calling her," Davina spoke matter of factly, taking her phone out, only to be taken by Peter who still stood wide eyed.
"Mom!"
"Mr. Stark!"
The two chuckled, Sharon looking at Tony who sighed as he stepped forward.
"How about this. We keep the kid- Peter out of the game unless it's completely necessary. We'll go old school with this. Use underoos like last time. Yeah?"
"Okay."
"No!" Peter objected, Davina turning to glare at him while Tony shrugged, "Lady gets the last word kid."
With that him and Sharon entered the jet, Davina smiling proudly as she followed, Peter sighing as he went after her.
Once they were in the plane, Davina took her cell back, Peter only remaining glum in his seat the whole way there.
When Sharon and Davina went to retrieve the others, Tony took that as his chance to speak to Peter, "You know she's doing this because she cares right?"
Peter scoffed at that, looking up, "I'm not her boyfriend. I'm not her anything. Why would she care?"
"Because no matter what she'll love you. You'll always be an important part of her life."
Peter didn't know what to say at that, remaining silent the whole time until he heard laughter getting closer and the rest of the team now joined them.
Peter was quick to greet them all, Davina sitting between Steve and Bucky the whole way there until they arrived where they were all eager to start the fight.
Sharon and Davina were going to stay put, speaking to the team through their ear pieces while Peter sat in the back waiting for his cue.
Finally feeling bad, Davina went to sit next to him, "I don't want you to think I don't trust that you can kick this thing's ass."
"Then what is it?" Peter asked, actually annoyed once again, Tony's words completely forgotten of.
"Peter I can't have you get hurt. Not when I can prevent it at least. I need you alive and unharmed and- I just need you to be safe Peter. And right now that's here."
Peter just looked at her now, at loss for words as Davina chuckled a bit.
"I mean you're a superhero, of course you can protect yourself. But- if by any chance I can prevent you from getting into a fight then you better believe I'm going to take that chance."
Peter slowly nodded now, the three of them hearing their team telling them they were in place and ready to go.
Giving Peter a pat on the shoulder, she got up to join her mother in the front who was giving the team instructions.
It didn't take long for the threat to find them, the fight now undergoing.
"You got this grandpa!" Davina cheered through the intercom, Sharon smiling at her daughter.
Tony rolled his eyes in his suit though, quickly protesting, "I am not your grandpa!"
"Oh right sorry. Bucky's my other grandpa. You're my grandma."
Davina didn't miss the chuckle coming from both Bucky and Steve, Tony only groaning again, hating the power the young brunette had over him.
"We are going to speak about this later young lady." Tony quickly mumbled, fighting off another enemy, trying to remain on his feet.
But even after ten minutes the fight was far from over, Sharon giving her daughter a look who sighed and stood up, returning to Peter who now stood by the exit nervously.
"Tony. You can say the word."
Tony sighed in relief, yelling, "Underoos!" which had Peter perk up within seconds.
He looked at Davina for confirmation who nodded, grabbing a hold of his mask, slipping it on for him with a small smile on her face.
"Just be careful, please?"
"I always am," Peter said with a smile before leaving the jet in a hurry, Davina sighing as she watched him soon join the fight.
So Davina tried her hardest to be as supportive as possible, trying not to let it show how very worried she was for Peter.
But he was prepared for this fight, just like he's been for every other fight.
He's been trained by the best and learned on his own while fighting all these New York villains.
He could do it. They all knew it, but she still couldn't help but worry due to previous incidents.
And he did do it, making Davina and the entire team proud when the threat was finally taken down with his help.
The team could now go home with a new victory, Davina even more proud of Peter which she never thought was possible and a memory for the books.
It was definitely not the day Davina was expecting but it was definitely one she'd always remember.
