CHAPTER XXII: Blame the alcohol
------------------------------------------------
When I got inside, I looked around the light cream coloured classroom. There was a white whiteboard on the wall, in front of it the teachers, and behind them the guys already sat.
The faculty member's group was composed by four internal professors and two external. One of them could ask some question but the other was the commission's director, so his or her work was to make sure everything went smoothly. My teachers already told us to be extremely prepared since the two external teachers were very severe.
"I imagine you're Andrea Schiffer. Good morning."
One of them gave me a polite smile and held his hand out to shake it. When I did the same with all the professors I left my backpack under a desk and the laptop on it. Then I signed some documents, just formality to let know I came to the exam.
"I see you have come with some sort of a... fan troupe."
The same teacher who greeted me the first, turned around and pushed down his glasses to look better at the little crowd of people. The guys seemed a bit nervous, but I wasn't intimidated by him even if he was extremely severe. He didn't look like it.
"Ah, no. They're some friends and family."
Meanwhile I was connecting my laptop to the projector so I could start my exposition, I took a sneak peeks to Mr. Smith who was trying to guess who were my family members. Good luck with that, since we weren't even related.
"You're sure his father, but I don't know if she has a brother since there are a lot of guys in here."
He pointed Victor as my dad, well he was sort of. I tried not to chuckle but I was failing. I was saved by my awesome teacher Ms. Davis, who laughed softly at the professor.
"He's her father, and the guy with glasses is her brother."
She showed him Charlie, but Mr. Smith wasn't convinced and kept looking between us, trying to find any resemblance. He sighed and turned around, hitting lightly his pen on the notebook he had.
"I think it's my hair what confuses you."
Opening my PowerPoint I faced the so called 'strict teacher' and gave him a small grin. He turned around again and his sight changed again from Charlie to me.
"Maybe. But we are not here to talk about the resemblances with your brother but for Physics."
Nodding I became a bit more nervous than I already was. Even if I studied asa crazy to have a good degree I couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by the situation I was in. Taking a deep breath and closing my eyes briefly, I pushed my glasses upwards and started talking.
"Good morning everyone. Since we could present a random topic we like inside the Physics world, I decided to talk about something, at least for me, extremely interesting. So, today I'm going to talk about the 'String Theory'."
When I was about to click the second slide Mr. Smith stopped my speech. Why the hell did he interrupt me? Looking back I saw the guys with a poker face, how not, they didn't understand a shit. While my teachers looked really surprised.
"Wait, Miss Schiffer. Are you really going to talk about the 'String Theory' or it's just a joke?"
I knew it was difficult as a topic, but asking me if it was a joke was a sign, at least for me, of bad education. He didn't have the need to stop my speech when I was about to start, nor to question my choice about my presentation,- sometimes even the teachers can be stupid.
