Things were better. Slightly.

Well, things were going better with Ricky and Rosaline then when we last saw them. Things with Sirenia and Josh were still going well, too.

Despite never explaining why she'd freaked out, Rosaline had apologized for it and Ricky had understandingly said it was fine. He wasn't mad- someone must have hurt her pretty bad for her to freak out so much and he understood that. He wasn't going to push her.

And now it was 1 month later and they were officially dating. Well, they had been for about 2 weeks now but still. Officially.

Josh and Sirenia had been going out for about the same amount of time, although they were much farther along in their relationship than Ricky and Rosaline, of course, but they were all happy.

Ricky and Rosaline still hadn't kissed, but she had been getting much more comfortable with him. He'd been over at the farm close to every day some weeks, giving her a lot of time to get used to being around him and him being closer to her. She'd become comfortable with pretty much all physical contact with him, having even fallen asleep with her head on his chest while watching a movie last week. Ricky was being patient and comforting, too, which made it all the better for Rosaline. She didn't feel pressured and was able to get acclimated at whatever speed she wanted.

They'd been going on a fair amount of dates, too. Mostly just simple things like out to lunch or to antique stores and oddities parlors, but it was all cherished by both of them. They'd even started going out once or twice by themselves, which was a huge step for Rosaline. Separating from Sirenia and going out with someone that wasn't her sister or Jared was a large step in the right direction for her. Sirenia had been stupidly proud of her for doing so, making the younger sister blush and swell with pride. It felt good to know her sister was proud of her.

Ricky was, too. And he'd made that very clear by cuddling Rosaline to near death as soon as they'd gotten back to her house from their date.

And today they had another date, but fortunately they weren't going alone this time.

Today the girls were taking all the guys out on a trail ride.

It would be most of their first times riding a horse, meaning the girls had spent about an hour carefully picking the horses they'd ride and devising a route they could take to make things as easy as possible for the guys. Then came the safety lecture all the guys had gotten, explaining what most of them had already picked up on just to make sure none of them did anything too stupid.

But now the girls and Jared were bridling all the horses they were taking, leading  them each out and handing them off to a guy before going back to get another. Eventually they'd gotten all their horses out to the ring and started walking around to help the guys get the cinches (all the horses were tacked Western aside from Diablo) tightened and up on their horses.

Rosaline went to Vinny first, stifling her laughter as she approached Vinny and the tiny pony he was standing next to. She could remember picking the pony for him vividly, having suggested they use him as a joke until realizing he was, in fact, the most viable option for the short man. What better pony for him then a black 12hh Highland Pony named Cupcake?

Oh, Vinny sure wished they'd been kidding when they'd led the little thing out. Unfortunately for him they'd been serious, of course, which was why he was now about to get on the little thing. He wondered absently as Rosaline tightened the cinch whether his feet would be dragging on the ground.
