Note: can I sleep whilst writing? Is that possible? This weather is killing my vibes. I just wanna go cuddle up and watch a horror movie. Uuugghh. Also if this chapter seems influenced its because I legitimately listened to Pierce the Veil the ENTIRE time and that usually makes my writing extra sappy. Just a fair warning.

Sirenia was shocked. That probably wasn't even a strong enough word to describe what she was feeling, but she was also fairly vague when it came to describing things so that probably had something to do with it too.

She had not been expecting Tucker to just walk through that creek. Hell, she'd been expecting pretty much anything except that to happen. Yet he'd walked through without a single hesitation, almost as if Sirenia herself had been the one on him. It had been surreal to watch- almost as surreal as watching Ghost pet Diablo back at the event months ago.

That was another thing- Ghost was riding Harper. Which in and of itself wasn't too big a deal because she was an angel on trail rides, but the fact that the ultra-perceptive Ghost had done up Harper's cinch and gotten on by himself was enough to yet again blow Sirenia away. Everything Ghost did seemed to surprise her, from his extreme sensitivity to people and how in-tune he was with animals it all absolutely amazed her. She wished she could hire him to work at Covenant with Jared. Hell, it may sound bad but Ghost could easily replace Jared.

Jared was lucky his brother was in a band that toured 10 months out of the year, or else he would've been out of a job.

Sorry Jared.

They were still out on their trail, fast approaching a large field the girls liked to stop in so they could hack around for a little bit. They planned to keep the guys at the walk and maybe bit of trot, putting a lot of trust in the horses they were on to not take advantage of how inexperienced they were and hopefully listen to their riders. She trusted the ones like Tucker, Harper and Serafina to listen but Nymeria, Trooper and Cupcake rarely listened to inexperienced riders. Well, I guess it would be better to say Cupcake didn't really like listening to anyone and neither did Trooper. The difference was all Cupcake did was follow after the other horses- Trooper enjoyed taking off bucking.

"How are things going back there?" Sirenia called, looking behind her to see Jared behind everyone else. She hadn't heard much from him since the trail ride started, having instead been talking to Ghost and Josh about the horses they were on and various other things.

Jared shrugged, pushing his sandy colored hair off his forehead. "Pretty good. We nearly to the field?"

Sirenia nodded, getting a thumbs up from Jared in return. He didn't know the trails very well as he always went out with one or both of the girls, meaning on outings like this he constantly asked where they were so he could try and get his bearings. He had a terrible sense of direction, though, meaning no matter how much he asked he still didn't know where they were. Ever. Sirenia could remember a day when they were walking back onto Covenant's property and Jared asked where they were; he hadn't even recognized their own goddamn barn.

She giggled at the memory, listening curiously to Rosaline and Ricky's conversation. They were going on about horse's show names, talking about why Rosaline had given Frankie the strange-yet-fitting show name (Phantom Code). Sirenia sympathized with her sister, especially in moments like this when she saw how Ricky was looking at her. She knew he wanted so badly to be able to show more physical affection to her sister but she just... wasn't comfortable yet. Hopefully that would change soon for both of their sakes.

She understood why Rosaline was uncomfortable, of course. She would be too if she'd been mistreated like that.

Rosaline's past sort-of girlfriend, Iris, had been very pushy and quite abusive in their fairly short kinda-relationship. It hadn't been official, but in Iris' mind they had been dating. She'd been forceful with Rosaline many a time, making her do things (uh... sexual things) she wasn't comfortable with and making it seem like everything was her fault. It had taken months for Rosaline to get over her, and even now over 2 years later she was uncomfortable with the idea of someone touching her in anything close to that way. It made Sirenia's fists tighten just thinking about how terribly that girl had treated her sister. She had promised herself that she would severely injure anyone who ever hurt her little sister like that again.
