Notes: why am I listening to a song that makes me so sad? This is not a good situation
-
Rosaline looked at Sirenia desperately, unsure of what their father was about to do or what she could do to stop it. Was she to speak up or take action? What would taking action mean- physically stepping? Fishing her phone out of her pocket and Jared? Or better yet the police?
Jared. Hmm. That reminded her- he and the other guys were only a few hundred yards away down at the barn. Would the right thing to do be to get their attention and draw them back up here? With an audience she knew their father would have to calm down. But could they get up here fast enough? That was the question.
What about the police? Oh hell, Rosaline knew Sirenia would kill her if she called the police. Sirenia hated having to deal with anyone or anything involving the government- and she had ever since they were little. If you were to delve into the psychology behind it someone would probably tell you it has something to do with how scared she was about the police or some sort of social worker separating the two of them, but Rosaline had never delved too far into it. And now definitely wasn't the time to change that.
As she looked from Sirenia to her father in that split second all the courage from before was gone. Now her sister was in danger and she didn't know what to do. It had already been probably, what, 3 seconds? Maybe 5? She needed to act fast.
Mustering up the last bit of courage she had, Rosaline flexed her muscles intimidatingly and reached out to wrap an arm around her father's wrist. Her other hand shot down into her pocket, receiving her phone and clicking the home button.
"Actually- it is." Rosaline corrected, turning her phone for her father to see. She made sure to make a show of how her finger was hovering over the 'Emergency Call' button. "I don't think either of us were kidding about calling the cops- at least I wasn't."
Their father glowered at her, sneering disgustedly at her. "You've got some balls, little girl."
"I'd say I'm not so little anymore, am I?" She mocked, her eyes darting down to scan over herself. She was more then half the girl she'd been the last time their parents had seen them- the formerly chubby, clumsy girl from before was now a taller, more mature, fairly muscular and much more able young woman. And what she may have lacked in confidence she made up for in brains.
Sirenia watched her sister, slowly stepping away from their father. How was she still so confident? Despite knowing she was faking it Sirenia was still amazed to see her little sister standing up for her like that- especially to their father.
"Now I suggest you get on with what you really came here to talk about." Rosaline ordered, stepping away and releasing her grip on the man's wrist. "But if either of you make one funny move I'll be calling the police- immediately."
Their mother glared. "Not if I can get my hands around your bratty little throat first."
"Watch it," Sirenia warned, looking to their mother warningly. "You keep your hands off her. And I mean it."
She only rolled her eyes, disregarding Sirenia completely and turning back to her husband as they both sat down again."Get on with it, Robert."
The man looked up at his daughters, his eyes once again hard. It was hard to imagine him looking any different, really. Despite knowing that parents were supposed to be much different then the two sitting in front of them; they'd never known anything different. They'd met Jared's mother (who they of course now knew to be Ghost's mother too) before and she was incredibly nice, as was his father, but that had been a one-time thing. Just Marie and David dropping off some of Jared's stuff when he'd first moved in.
