The trial was approaching quickly, and there was nothing either of them could do to slow down time.

February turned to March, March turned to April, and then April was May. Neither of them had time to breathe, they just had to hold their breath for months without breaks in between.

"It's just going to be you testifying against him," their lawyer, Mr. Lynch, tried to tell them, as if it would help him feel more comfortable. "No jury, no full house, just us," he motioned to himself and Blaine, "whoever's coming to support you, his lawyer, and him."

"Okay," Kurt responded, because that was all he ever said back when it came to this stuff. Alright, okay, fine, whatever.

Truth be told, Kurt couldn't care less if there were less people in the room, less eyes on him, whatever Mr. Lynch was trying to tell him. He didn't care if it was his word against his and they didn't need a jury, all evidence was working towards him. He didn't care about the technical things and the rules of court.

The only thing Kurt cared about was preparing himself to see him. Not breaking down in front of everyone in the room (their lawyer already said it would win them some sympathy points if he did) , but the emotional toll it'll have on his mind after the trial's finished with. Kurt didn't know what to expect, and the unknown scared him. He didn't know what it would do to him, what it would do to Blaine, what it would do to all of the progress that he made. He didn't know.

"You ready for tomorrow?" Blaine asked him, while they laid in bed facing the ceiling. His voice sounded loud in the silence of the nighttime, even if he was talking at a normal level.

Kurt was quiet the whole day, and Blaine decided not to do anything about it. Let him go at his own speed, he reminded himself. Be patient. If Kurt didn't want to talk, he wouldn't make him, as much as he wanted to.

"Yeah," Kurt responded, still looking up. "Yeah, I'm ready."

"We're going to win, you know. He's gonna go to jail."

"I know."

Blaine sighed and turned over so he could see all of Kurt's face, even with the only light coming from the moon outside. No emotions were shown, nothing to tell Blaine what he was thinking or what he was feeling. Just staring at the ceiling and breathing quietly.

"I love you. Whatever happens tomorrow, I love you."

"I love you too." Kurt whispered back, and when there was silence in response, turned away from Blaine.

He didn't get any sleep the night before the trial. Blaine didn't either.

Sorry, guys! I wanted to get you a chapter this week on time but I didn't have much time to write so this is just a filler and it sucks. Next one is the trial!!
