The Audition

Chapter 15
(1 month later)
Rachels pov:
I decided that I am going to audition for the lead part in West Side Story. I knew that if I wanted this part I would have to be perfect . To me this was practice for NYADA. I needed this to go really well. I was in the auditorium warming up when Shebly walked in.

"Your range is better. It was good a year and a 1/2 ago but now it's even better." She told me.

I looked at her and looked down,

"This is a private rehearsal." I said.

"Look Rachel,"

"Please don't , I don't need you here I have family and unlike you it actually means something to me." I said.

"Rachel we've been over this I'm your birth mom." She said.

"I know I almost had to  go to therapy because of you." I said and walked over to give the band music.

"Somewhere Theres A Place For Us." She said.

"I just said there wasn't!" I yelled frustrated.

"Not for us, for your audition song." She said.

"Oh , I thought about doing it but it's a very challenging song and plus I love I Feel Pretty it's the safer choice." I said.

"No one ever got anywhere by playing it safe. Trust me, I've played Maria 18 times , this song is for you.  Just try it." She insisted.

I nodded went to the center and took a breath as the music start:

"Bravo!  If I could stand I totally would!" Artie said.

"That was magnificent Rachel." Ms.Pilsberry said.

"You make me sob like a baby." Coach Beiste said.

I smiled and took a bow.

"So Rachel what do you say to being our new Maria?" Artie asked me.

"Seriously?" I asked him.

"Definitely." He said.

"Of course yes thank you! " I said and ran off to tell Shelby.

"Shelby , Shelby!" I said coming into her class room.

"Rachel hi." She said.

"I got the part I'm Maria!" I said happyily.

"Thats amazing!" She exclaimed and gave me a big hug.

I then pulled away and said,

"I should go tell Finn he'll be happy to hear it." I said.

"Right you should go tell him." She said.

I started to walk away when I turned around.

"Hey Shelby?" I said.

"Yes Rachel?" She asked me.

"Well I was wondering if maybe you and Beth would like to come over for dinner tonight? It'll be just Finn and I but I think you should be there too if you want." I said.

"Okay what time?" She asked me.

"Six." I said.

"Okay I'll see you then." She said.

"Great see ya then." I said and left.
