Chapter 20-

Fireworks

"Sak! Sasuke!" A voice screeched over the chattering roar of the crowd.

The duo looked up in the direction of the voice to see the loud mouth blonde girl with their group of friends staring in there direction waving them over. The pair immediately ran over excusing themselves whenever they bumped into someone. Sakura threw herself at the blonde girl who laughed at her actions.

"What's that Sakura?" Ino asked pointing to the toy in her arms.

"Sasuke won it for me." She cooed hugging the stuffed bunny just as Hinata and TenTen came up from behind Ino.

"Look at mister smooth." Naruto said approaching Sasuke who was staring at the girls chatting happily. "Better not hurt her!"

"Shut up." The dark hair boy said annoyed shoving him to the side irritating the kid.

The other boys; Shikamaru, Neji, Kiba, Choji, and Shino came to Sasuke's aid stopping Naruto from starting a brawl.

"Naruto cut it out, where out in public amongst crowds of people." Neji began to lecture the blonde boy who only winced at the gaze the long hair boy gave him.

"Man Sasuke you gotta show me where you won that." Kiba said looking excited entirely of the festivities.

"I just want to go nap before I get dragged around again." Shikamaru moaned looking away from the girls trying his hardest not to catch any of their gazes.

"Cheer up Shikamaru, it's not that bad." Choji chimed in only resulting for the other boy to groan.

"She made us play ten whole rounds of three games just so we could get her something. If our parents weren't friends I would've left her to do it." Shikamaru seethed making everyone laugh.

"You guys it's getting dark." Sakura came rushing over with the other girls in their group.

"Come on let's go get some food and find a seat for the fireworks!" TenTen exclaimed grabbing onto Neji and Kiba who winced at her grip. "Hinata take Naruto, Shino, and Choji to find the best seats."

The kids nodded their heads before running off and leaving the rest watching them leave.

"What do we do?" Sasuke asked.

"We need to get drinks while TenTen is in charge of food and Hinata is in charge of." Ino said taking charge wagging a finger in the air with her head held up high.

Sakura nodded her head in agreement while Shikamaru groaned in annoyance. Sasuke stood clueless at his new friends sudden attitudes but shrugged it off as they set off in the same direction TenTen lead her small group.

"We should get a couple slushies, I remembered last year Naruto kept trying to taste everyones!" Sakura started to chat with Ino who laughed at the memory.

"Your right, let's go. " The blonde commanded grabbing a hold of the pineapple head boy's arm who rolled his eyes as Sakura did the same to Sasuke who didn't mind much.

The small group wondered the school grounds for a booth that sold the slushie drink. They stopped their search a couple of times playing a few games along the way as well as winning a few prizes to Ino's delight. When they finally found the booth, made their order and purchases with what money they put together, the sun had just about set. In a panic frenzy the four friends grabbed the two drink trays and two remaining drinks then jetting off to the grounds that the firework show would be at. It didn't take much time before the familiar yelling of two knuckle heads came to them.

"WE'RE SAVING THESE SPOTS!"

"GO SOMEWHERE ELSE DUDE!"

The yells became more louder with every step the four friends took only for them to groan embarrassed by their friends annoying selves screaming at people who tried to sit near the circle that their other friends formed.

"I'm surprised you were almost late Ino. Usually you'd be the one screaming your head off." TenTen said looking back at the approaching group. "I did your job better then you."

The bonbon haired brunette gestured toward the bundle of food settled on top of a blanket where the rest of their friends sat around.

"Hmp, at least we got the drinks." The blonde said settling down beside the brunette. She put the drink in her hand down with the pile of food. "Naruto! Kiba! Stop yelling!"

The two boys shrieked in fear before running toward Hinata who laughed at their antics.

Sakura pulled Sasuke aside after they set the drinks down. They settled on the  empty side of the blanket getting comfortable on top of Sakura's prize stuffed animal.

"This is real nice Sasuke." The pinkette said laying against the toy with her hands on her belly.

"Yeah." Sasuke laid on his back with his arms spread out staring up at the sky while their friends chatted up a storm before the fireworks could begin.

He felt content as he could be and waited for the fireworks to start so his fun filled day could feel complete. But a small hand bought him back into reality. Sasuke looked toward Sakura who stared hard back with her big bright green eyes that smiled on their own. The raven hair boy found himself blushing at the small touch but was thankful for Neji who passed two slushies their way for a toast. The pair sat up with the rest of their friends and counted down.

"Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten." The called out just as the fireworks shot into the sky, they tapped their drinks with one another before settling comfortably to watch the show.

"Hey Sakura."

"Yeah Sasu-cake?"

"Happy birthday." Sasuke whispered quiet enough for the girl to hear as he fished a small box out of his jean pockets. He slid it into her hands in a secretive manner that made the pinkette go into a fit of giggles.

Sakura took the box and opened it with her eyes going wide. "Oh its so pretty!"

She fiddled with the box taking the cherry blossom covered branch necklace out. The pinkette placed the necklace around her neck.

"I love it Sasuke. Thank you."

"Your welcome Sakura."

Sasuke and Sakura smiled at each other then sat back on the stuffed bunny and watched the colors blend with one another. Sasuke sipped at his slushie aimlessly engulfed in the show but the small hand came back to settle on top of his own. The raven hair boy's cheeks flushed but he shrugged the feeling off and turned his hand around to grab the girl's hand. The pinkette laid her head against the boy's shoulder and smiled brighter than she ever did for the rest of the night.
