Chapter 44-

Unfocused

"Welcome home little brother." Itachi called out to his brother coming through the front door.

The older Uchiha remained seated in the living room where the coffee table in front of him had books opened up. With a binder laid on his lap and a pencil twirling in his hands, Itachi heard his brother's familiar grunt and chuckled to himself.

Sasuke threw his bag on the stairs and walked into the kitchen where his mother was busy cutting vegetables and humming a pleasant tune to herself.

"Oh Sasuke," Mikoto said noticing her youngest son wandering passed the counter into the fridge. "I bought some fresh tomatoes this morning. Help yourself but don't spoil your appetite for dinner."

"Yes mom." He muttered lowly snatching two ripe red tomatoes.

"How was school dear?" She asked sweetly transferring her chopped ingredients into a bowl. "Did practice run all right?"

"School was fine, ended up with lots of homework. Practice was pretty much the usual." Sasuke bite into the tomato hungrily.

Mikoto hummed in acknowledgement and went on with her work. When she noticed her son's stiff figure and how he hasn't inched away to his room, she decided to press on.

"Has anything happened lately dear?" She asked nonchalantly turning away from him to the stove.

Sasuke's thoughts where solely surrounded around how to plan his next unofficial date with Sakura. He almost choked misunderstanding his mother's question. He swore he heard her say Sakura's name.

"No. Well, Sakura and I decided to spend Halloween together."

Mikoto was surprised by the news but her warm motherly smile became brighter than Sasuke ever imagined. "Like a date? Another one?"

The ravennette teen felt his face heat up. He turned his head and nodded.

"Aw. I see. It'd be so cute if you guys dressed up in couples costume. You know what, I'll even make you guys some snacks and maybe make something big for dinner. Oh, will she be staying for dinner?"

"Probably if I offered."

"My baby's growing up." Mikoto gushed happily. "I need to talk with Kushina."

The Uchiha matriarch quickly rushed out the room forgetting about her previous task of preparing for dinner.

Sasuke grunted leaving the kitchen and going back to the stair case where he retrieved his bag. He trudged up the stairs while munching on a tomato in his hand. He entered his room shutting the door behind him. His book bag was sent flying to his bed and his shoes were kicked off to a corner. With the tomato finished, Sasuke threw his closet open and rummaged through his closet until he found a shoe box.

He set the box on his desk and pulled out the items inside. The ribbon. The photos of her. Sasuke felt mesmerized by those green eyes he knew back then for a small while but felt like eternity for him. The letters in the box were still there untouched.

Sasuke pulled out a piece of paper and began to write. He began by writing the pinkette's name the best way possible. And then he wrote to her about his feelings. How he was incredibly happy with their weekend together. How he loves every minute they're together. How their hands entwine so perfectly. He finished the letter by folding it up and tapping it shut.

Sasuke put the latest letter and other keepsakes back into the box then shoved it back where he found it in his closest.

The youngest Uchiha went back to his desk with his book bag and unloaded his books to begin his homework. Before he even started, he pulled one of his drawers open and pulled out a frame. He set the frame at an angle on his desk.

In the frame was Sasuke staring straight ahead and Sakura who was looking up at him in the cutest way possible.

As much as Sasuke hated his brother for taking the photo, he loved how the pinkette looked so happy.
