Chapter 54 - 

Older brother

"Itachi." Sasuke sighed watching his brother look at him over his textbook.

"Hm?"

"I- I need a favor."

Hearing this made Itachi bookmark his text book and hold his hands up. "Yes little brother, how can I help you?"

"I need to borrow something." Sasuke swallowed hard. He hated asking for favors and needing to return it afterward, he especially loathed it when it came to his brother. Itachi liked to ask for the most outrageous things that most would say was an exaggeration.

"What can I possibly offer you that you don't have?"

'He's enjoying this.' Sasuke growled to himself.

"Can I borrow your car to take Sakura to prom?"

Itachi smirked at his little brother. "I could possibly loan it to you but of course for a hefty price in return."

Sasuke swallowed hard waiting for an explanation. His brother will ask for something ridiculous.

"Why don't we spend the day together little brother? It's been so long since we last spent time together." Itachi began to stack all his writing materials on top of his textbook. "Let's spend the day now."

"And what would you like to do brother?" Sasuke gritted his teeth trying not to groan at his day wasted, who else wants to spend their day with their older brother?

"Let's see what shall we do?" Itachi left his books on the coffee table he was working at and walked toward the front door. "How about we spend the day gathering your prom attire?"

"Where do we start?" The faster they get the day over with, the less painful it would be the younger Uchiha had though to himself.

"Let's go to your room and see what you have already." Itachi stated happily walking toward the stairs.

Sasuke followed behind to see his brother already raiding his closet.

"You still have the dark blue suit mother had got you but I feel a black suit would be more suitable for this event. Where are those dress shoes you had?" Itachi began to sound like their mother when they were younger looking through their closets.

"Oh what's this here?" 

Sasuke looked up from his phone to see his older brother rummaging in a shoe box. He sighed and didn't reply to the question, he continued to reply back to Sakura's text message about color options for the pair to match. Apparently Ino and Sai are wearing a shade of purple and dope and Hinata are going to wear one of orange.

"When were these pictures taken? Oh what's this here?"Itachi continue to drone on taking a frame out to view it's contents then a tied stack of envelopes.

At the site of the envelopes Sauske's eyes grew wide. He jumped up and instantly grabbed the box from his brother's hands. "Why are you looking through my things?"

"Oh Sakura looks beautiful in this one." The older Uchiha still held a photo in his hand smiling at his little brother's face turning all shades of red.

Sasuke rushed back and snatched the photo from his hands and placed it gently back in the box. He took his seat back on his bed to examine the contents.

"So what's up with the box? Care to tell me about it?" Itachi resume rummaging in the closet still looking for the dress shoes.

"It's a- It's just-" He was at a lost of words to explain the box. It had been years since he even thought of this box. One thing stood out from the rest. The green ribbon that Sakura had gave him when they were kids. Her words came to mind, 'Just so you remember me', her tear streaked face came back to mind making his insides twist. "It's just Sakura's things."

Sasuke walked over to his desk and set the frame and small photograph on the desk's surface along with the ribbon in front of it.

"How adorable." Itachi cooed examining the shoe box that held his dress shoes. "Will green be the color of her dress?"

"No, Sakura's still deciding." The younger Uchiha answered tucking the box back into the closet. "I suppose I just need a suit. I'll get the shirt or tie or whatever when Sakura's decided."

"Look at you sounding like a proper husband."

Sasuke stared wide eyed at the comment. How much longer does he have to spend with his brother? It's already exhausting and draining.

"Just a piece of advice, don't leave your heart straining. Make sure to treat it right." Itachi said wandering out of the younger Uchiha's room.

'Why does my brother have to sound mystical like some wise old man?' Sasuke sighed to himself but let his mind wander at the advice's meaning.
