Chapter 18

{Chris's POV} 

When I woke up Esmeralda had her head resting on my chest sound asleep, I kissed her head and held her close I am looking forward to the day when Esmeralda finally becomes my wife, she makes me really happy, and I never want to lose her. A few minutes later Esmeralda started to stir she lifts her head up and kisses me I smile against her lips Esmeralda laid her head down on my pillow I looked into her beautiful eyes and brushed the back of my index finger against her cheek. 

"Babe what would you like for your birthday since it's coming up?" I asked. 

"I don't really know what I want for my birthday." Esmeralda said. 

"Is there a new book, CD, or movie that's out that you would like?" 

"Not that I can think of you don't have to get me anything for my birthday." 

I kissed Esmeralda once more and climbed out of bed and got dressed I was sitting on the bed putting on my sneakers when Esmeralda sat beside me and put on her combat boots, I kissed her cheek she looked at me and blushed.

"Baby do you want to come to Strange and Unusual with me?" I asked. 

"No thank you puddin' I want to stay here and read." Esmeralda said. 

I grabbed my leather jacket out of the closet and put it on Esmeralda and I walked downstairs she walked me to the front door and wrapped her arms around my neck I scooped her up in my arms and kissed her she smiled against my lips. 

"Are you sure you don't want to come?" 

"Puddin' I'll be fine stop worrying as soon as you leave, I will turn the security alarm on." 

"If you want some movies to watch I have a box set of classic horror movies and a few other movies as well." I said. 

"I'll see you when you come home." Esmeralda replied. 

I kissed Esmeralda once more and gently put her down I left the house and walked down to the SUV, I climbed behind the wheel and put the key in the ignition I started the engine and drove away. When I arrived at Strange and Unusual, I pulled up out front of the store and killed the engine I took the key out of the ignition and climbed out of the SUV, I walked inside the store. 

"Hey Chris, Where's Esmeralda?" 

"She didn't want to come besides she's been acting weird since she woke up this morning." 

"Would you like me to send Ryan Ashley over to see if she can get Esmeralda to tell her why she's acting weird?" Balz asked. 

"If Ryan Ashley isn't busy." I said. 

Ryan Ashley walked out from the back of the store she walked over to me and gave me a hug I hugged her back I always thought of Ryan Ashley like a second sister to me. 

"Babe do you mind going over to Esmeralda and Chris's house and see if Esmeralda will tell you why she's acting weird?" 

"I don't mind going to see Esmeralda." 

Ryan Ashley put on her jacket and grabbed her purse she left the shop a few seconds later Ricky, Ryan, Vinny, and Ghost walked into the shop Balz, and I waved to them. 

"Guys want to help me throw Esmeralda a surprise Halloween party and birthday party for Esmeralda?" I asked. 

"We'd love to help plan the party besides you and Ghost are like the masters of Halloween." Ricky said .

"How old is Esmeralda going to be on Halloween?" 

"She will be twenty-two." 

Balz, Ryan, Vinny, Ghost, Ricky, and I were in the back of the shop writing down ideas for Esmeralda's party my cellphone was ringing I took my phone out of the pocket of my jacket and looked at the number it was Esmeralda I hurried up and answered it.
