→ "If I wanna listen to Tove lo and stunt in my comforter, let me!"

I blared the 'Lady Wood' album in my room and didn't care if my mother could hear me from sweet Alabama. The album recently came out and I was in deep love. Especially the song 'True Disaster' I was currently blasting from my speakers.

I had woken up, gotten myself cleaned up and stayed in my room for the duration of the day. I called Nissi and we talked about her classes and my current jail sentence. And then somewhere in between that time, I thought it would be a good idea to wrap myself in my comforter all the way to my toes.

I really though I had thought this through. I didn't. Because I had my door wide open and Dr.smiles was in my home.

Why?

Mother had hurt herself, cleaning a knife this morning. And It was a blood scene, I was going to call an ambulance, but she pleaded me not to, and told me to call Pacer. I forgot his name for a moment until Iris reminded me of my nickname for him.

So, I guess in the time it took for Spotify to shuffle and play 'True Disaster'  he had made his way over here and looked over my mother's cut and made some sort of decision. Because I really truly, disbelieve that he would leave my bleeding mother downstairs to come and sneak up on me.

And from the booming of my speakers, his voice was deep and alarming.

"You know your mother's gonna need to go to the hospital right?"

He may have asked me that, but I swear I was so into the song I was so confused and startled. I jumped at his voice and with that, I came down with my whole comforter. I just don't understand why he would do this to me. Was he trying to see me in his clinic more? All he had to do was ask nicely.

"Holy Frick! Don't do that! What's wrong with you?!" I shouted at him as I felt my ribs ache from the fall and my comforter covers my body.

He rushed to my side, no doubt happy for his new patient. He helped my up by my arm and held onto my like I was fragile or something. I took multiple falls when I was in kindergarten, even one that dislocated my shoulder. This was nothing.

"I- I'm so sorry, I didn't- I thought you could- your music was-" I walk away from him for a brief second so that I can get to my phone and turn the music off to hear him properly. And when I walk back, he's wearing a huge smile. "I didn't know I was gonna scare you like that. Sorry."

"It's fine, so what was that about my mom?" I asked him this time and he shuffled awkwardly to the door to point downstairs.

"She's gonna have to go to the hospital to get stitches, it's really deep." He explained to me and with that I looked anywhere but him. Whenever he's around someones hurt or hurting. Why?

"Alright Dr.smiles guess we're going to the hospital. Thanks for the confirmation though." I patted him on the shoulder as I walked past him to get downstairs to my mother.

I made it downstairs quickly and found Mom with Iris. They were wrapping her hand in some type of bandage and the blood was just coming out like no tomorrow. Yeah, we need the hospital and fast.

"Okay, I'll drive. Let's go." I announced and I grabbed her keys from the bowl by the front door. There were a loud gasp coming from Iris, I guess she didn't know it was that serious.

"Honey, let Pacer drive, I want him there to tell me everything those doctors say." She practically orders me and I look over to see him standing by the steps. I walk over an place the keys in his hands and open the front door.

A long two months.

Soon we all made it out through the door, and it was me, Dr.smiles, Iris and my mother all in her mini van. There was space, but it was a minivan for crying out loud, I didn't want to be in there! I'm nineteen.

The drive was crazy, I swear this doctor is trying to kill us all. He made so many sharp turns, and he missed at least two stop signs. Your supposed to stop at stop signs, not speed and try not to get caught.

As soon as we got there, Iris and I helped my mother out the car and into the waiting room. Dr.smiles did all he talking, and got us a doctor in like ten minutes. Not bad actually. The doctor ushered my mother into a little section of the room which was sectioned by one of those hospital curtains, you know. Iris, snuck into the little section so that she wouldn't have to be alone in there.

Or so she could leave me and Dr.smiles alone. In a full waiting room, full of people that was full. Yeah, emphasis on the full part.

And so, I sat in the hospital chair until he sparked up conversation. It happened to be about me, and my terrible fall earlier.

"I never took you for a Tove Lo girl." As he said it I became appalled by his words an looked at him sharply. What does he take me for, camp music? "No offense."

"Well, you won't be taking me for anything any longer, I hope this is the last time I see you. no offense." I devilishly grinned over to him, an she responded with a small giggle. "Pacer Rhodes."

"Anna Dillard. You know we actually grew up together?" He said, but I couldn't recall knowing anyone by the name of physical aptitude test that we take in school.

"Funny, I don't remember you." I murmured to myself, but he caught it and yet again laughed.

"I remember you, you were always this happy little sunshine camper. Until, the start of ninth grade." He says to himself and starts walking down memory lane I guess, I don't want to. I don't want to talk about the beginning of ninth grade, to anyone. Ever.

"That's when he left, I'd rather not go down memory lane." I sat back into my seat and crossed my arms over my chest. Here Dr.smiles was, hurting someone once again.
