→"Who sleeps through a firkin, parade?! How?! Teach me your ways! "
I closed the door behind me and leaned against it with my eyes closed. I just kissed Pacer Rhodes, on the lips!
Oh god, I sound like I'm sixteen. I sound like Iris.
Speaking of Iris, where was the little booger? It was only nine at night, what was everyone sleeping?
I gather myself and strut to the steps but something catches my eye. Or someone.
It was Iris, in the kitchen on her laptop. And she had her whole mind glued to whatever was on that laptop. I ran up to her and butted her out of the way to see what she was looking at.
The bright screen filled my eyes and the bold words hit me.
"I DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU, EVER."
I turned to look at Iris, who's eyes were red and puffy. Who texted her something like this? I look back to the computer and search for a name, until I find one. Eli, that was her best friend. Why would he say that to her?
"Iris, tomorrow is the weekend, you can rest and we can talk about it later. Come on." I say gently and she nods in agreement.
I close her laptop screen and reach out my hand for hers. She takes it in an instant and we walk up the steps and to my room. Kurt is already sound asleep, so I might as well tuck in Iris and go sleep in her bed.
I do that, and mange to hug her a little before she drifts off slowly.
I silently make my way to Iris' room and change out of my outfit for something more comfortable, preferably her onesie and I hop into her bed. This was a long deserved sleep, a lot happened today.
☎ SATURDAY 10:34 AM
The movement in the bed is what wakes me, and I open my eyes to find Kurt tangled with me. How did this kid get into this bed? He was sleeping the last time I saw him!
He has his back turned to me, and was breathing like a bear. His little body going up and down, up and down.
"Kurt, how did you get into bed with me?" I ask him silently, still not sure if he was up or not. If he wasn't I would just get out of bed an leave him to sleep little while longer.
"Wherever you go, I go. Iris is up too, she's downstairs, I talked to her." He said in his scruffy voice. It was like morning voice, but more high pitched.
"Is she okay?" I asked him and this time he turned to face me.
"Yes, she will be. I gave her some advice, yada yada. Can I get some shut eye now?" He questions me back and I smile at him.
It was unfortunately time for me to get out of bed. Or I'd stay in it the whole day, and not do one single thing. I lifted myself up with full strength and left Iris' room to get to the bathroom, but a hand pulled me into another room before I ever made it.
Rosalie.
She closed the door behind her and started pacing the floors.
"Rose, calm down. Stop running the floors down, or there won't be a floor. Speak!" I commanded and she stopped pacing, for a second. Before nibbling on her nails and pacing the floor once again. "Rose."
"Anna, remember how I said I could find out things? Well, I did. Actually, Tommy did- he's an investigator- and he really found out something. Something really- like Anna, this is really-" She babbles on and on, just like a nervous person asking out someone they like. This wasn't that and I need to know what she found out.
"Rose, say it!" I screamed at her which caused her to stop in her tracks and look at me like I had a axe in my head. She was the one who was going on and on and on. I just want to take a shower and find out what secrets were being hid from us.
She took a breath and looked at me with all seriousness. "Dad's name is listed under another child." She looked to me for a reaction, but it wasn't coming.
In al honesty, if dad had another kid let alone a whole other family it wouldn't surprise me. It would explain him not coming back, and not contacting us. "You know who it is?"
"Anna, it was Sonia's kid. Carina. Dad's the father to Carina, and she's only four. And that's why Aidan was so mad about them being here, because maybe he though that would bring him here." She theorized and I had to think about it also.
Okay, Sonia was the mother of my half sister. Carina was related to me by my father's blood. Mom knew this, yet she let them in the house? If someone I loved had another kid- well I guess I wouldn't be evil to them, they were family now. Somehow.
I took a moment.
I was going through a lot of emotions right now.
It wasn't like he had run away and his himself from people and stopped living his life. He had another life! He has another life! He's got a new baby girl to love.
I just don't understand. Did he feel like he had to start over? What did we do wrong?
"So, he's just out there with another family? Having happy days without us?" I asked Rose, and she gravitated towards me and wrapped me in a hug.
I could feel her body shaking, she was crying. Rosalie was crying tears.
"Anna, we didn't do anything wrong. It's just- he just wanted something else. You, Iris Kurt or me couldn't have known or dome anything different." She told me, but it was more like she told herself.
"Rose, he doesn't want us anymore. It's permanent. He wanted something else, someone else. And he got it, he got his second chance." I whined to her. Rosalie kept her grip around me tight.
"We are not mistakes, okay? We weren't a trial run. If this is what he wanted then so be it. But we are going to be a stronger family, because of him and what he decided."
